Diablo 2 Resurrected on Steam Deck
now that Diablo 2 Resurrected works with a controller, playing d2 on the steam deck is going to be awesome! Thing is, Battle.Net app just runs on Windows, is there anyway it can run on steam os?

Add non-steam game.

Maybe proton will kick in?

Worst case make your Steam Deck a dual boot and have Windows as your second OS and install Battle.net on it, then Diablo 2 Resurrected?

But I'm sure sooner or later Battle.net will be able to run on SteamOS, if the companies are smart that have their own game launchers they make their launchers work on SteamOS.
I'm sure Uplay and Origin will do that seeing how they have games that are sold on Steam and then you play the game from their launchers.

i really hope so! funnyt thing is their games works on MAC, so it could probably be an easy port to steamos.

not sure that proton can actually launch battle.net. All blizzard games require battle.net to be launched in the background to be played.

WinE is a thing but for all the development that happens it seems to keep getting worse.

I advice to play original instead of that outsourced garbage.
Steam Deck would handle mouse+keyboard controls of Diablo 2 just fine.
Source: I own Steam Controller, and played all kinds of games with it. The only case where I was struggling with Steam Controller is fast-paced competitive RTS games with lots of units.

WINE is an infrastructure project. Using it naked is somewhat of a PITA, but it's fine when used with something more user-friendly wrapped around it. Proton & Steam wrapped around WINE makes it both useful and powerful.

i know this is an old topic but in case anyone found their way here from google looking to install d2r on the steam deck. please try Lutris before dual booting windows. in fact other games on steam that require an additional launcher on top of steam can also be run using Lutris.
