Any good i9-9900ks alternative?
My current Situation:

I'm currently stuck on an i7-2600k and I wanted to buy a i9-9900ks. Unfortunately it's sold out everywhere. After doing research myself to find a good alternative I found people praising the i9-9900ks for its strong perfomance when compared to other 9900's like the 9900k or 9900kf. I've seen the AMD Ryzen 3950X with 16 Cores but I am pretty happy with Intel since years now and I'd like to stay with Intel. I know that I would have to upgrade the motherboard and ram aswell because of the socket and the DDR4 Ram support but I'm kinda lost in the process of picking the right CPU to handle the things I want to do with my new setup.

I'd like to find a CPU capable of various things like:

- Gaming... It should at least run Star Citizen with 60fps

- Music Production

- Game Development

- 3D Rendering... If capable, but I would understand if a CPU for the first three purposes isn't thought for rendering 3D Animations

Questions:

1. Is there any good alternative to the KS version which would still be available?
2. What about the new 10th Gens, can any CPU of the 10th be compared to a i9-9900ks?
3. Would the Extreme be an option too or are the X-Editions thought for production only?

Thank you in advance and stay healthy!

Technically they're both 8 Core processors, Hyperthreading is really just allowing a single-core to do two instruction sets (threads). As far has Star Citizen, there doesn't appear to be any comparison between the CPUs for the game.

I just now looked into 10th Gen for the first time, I wasn't aware that any 10th Gen desktop existed. Apparently they haven't been advertising them very well.

intel Core 10th Gen 10700K is more capable than the intel Core i7-9700, but also a step behind the i9-9900K. Botht eh 10700K and the i9-9900K boast 16MB Cache, while the i7-9700 has only 12MB cache.

intel Core 10th Gen 10900K is a 10-Core processor, with 20 threads; a beast with 20MB Cache.

I've also updated the Comparison for you to look at: intel Official Website[ark.intel.com]

I guess you're also not able to find an intel Core i7-9700K?

well actually I do find the 9700k but how can it be compared to the 9900ks? what's the difference?

Looking at this video comparison, gaming performance just shows maybe 10fps difference between a i7-9700K vs. i9-9900K, depending the title:

Ah yes thank you for the comparison table! The 10900K looks like a monster compared to the others. My guess is that the 10900K would be a valuable buy. Do you think they will release a 10900KS? like they did with 9900KS?

And from what I read the only difference between the 10900K and the 10900KF is the Intel UHD Graphics 630.. Is such a GPU in a CPU viable for gaming eventhough i have a gtx titan 1080? Or asked differently does the cpu graphic chip have an impact when playing graphic hungry games?

I'm not entirely sure myself on the "KS", K means an unlocked CPU and I guess S means "Special" for Special Edition chips.

F means no integrated graphics which is perfect for those that have discrete video/graphics cards from either Nvidia or AMD. Those sell for less due to them being designed as such.

Having a CPU with integrated graphics does not impact GPU performance nor does it enhance performance because it isn't used... at all (On Certain Motherboards). The only way to use a Desktop GPU with with integrated Graphics at the same time is dependent on the motherboard. My motherboard allows me to use the iGPU (integrated Graphics) for help with multi-monitor setups. I don't use it, it only allows up to 64MB VRAM. Not a lot of video memory.

Even though it does not seem like it, it can be beneficial to buy a CPU that has it anyway. Maybe a builder is having an issue with a GPU displaying and can check by using the iGPU to see if the video card is being read in the first place. A CPU without one will not be able to display an output at all if the card fails to execute video output.

Thank you mate you've been a wonderful help, I've decided to get the 10900K now. Compared to others this CPU seems like a bulletproof buy!
