Having an issue with my steam controller

Playing games like american truck simulator and others I have noticed a recurring trend for me.
The controller has to work through big picture mode and that has been a buggy mess, making me assume the device is bottlenecked by bad software.

I cant chat, I cant use discussion forums in big picture mode.

In the game some features with the controller layouts wont work properly, its acts like it just cant register what the hell im doing sometimes. Like with a mulit-button selection layout with the left touchpad. Any thought here as to what the main issue is, or am I missing something?

I forgot to add, the in game steam overlay, that does not work either, its a laggy mess

Firstly, with the New Chat UI within Desktop seems to not implemented within BPM, and as far as other issues. There has been massive issues, it's not just you.

Thank you for the reply I appreciate pointing me in the right direction. I'm pretty dissapointed in Valve, I've only had it for a few days and now these glaring issues come up. It's inexcusable that I paid hard cash for a quality product I and everyone else expects it to perform as advertised.
