Reinstalling without Mods Installed
TL;DR Does anybody know how to reinstall Oblivion without my old downloads/saves/mods?

A while ago, I horribly butchered my copy of Oblivion. I downloaded Nerhim, and, as I usually do, I forgot save a spare copy of Oblivion. My Oblivion-as-Nehrim neither works as Oblivion nor Nehrim. And I have tried to reinstall with the Steam Cloud turned off so that, hopefully, it would bring up the original files rather than the ones with the botched Nehrim on them. Then I could save a copy as I should have to begin with, and then I could try to download Nehrim again.

Does nobody know how to do something like this? It's a really annoying problem, and I can't find a fix for it.

I'm not sure if I understood correctly what you meant, but simply selecting 'delete local content' on Steam doesn't uninstall your mods, it only removes vanilla content. You have to go and manually delete your Oblivion folder to remove them. So it's not a case of Steam installing your old mods when you reinstall, it's just that they never got uninstalled in the first place.

The problem is, Nehrim is a total extension mod, so I think that it may have overwritten some of Oblivion's information. It probably didn't, but even then, it'd be a big pain to go through my files and find which specific files are from Oblivion and which specific files are from Nehrim. Is there really no option to just load up the default game, without any of my screw-ups within?

I find it hard to believe that Steam really has no option for this :(
Nehrim is a standalone mod it installs in seperate folder i think or at least not into the data folder like other mods and it does come with an uninstaller if i rember correctly, so if it does youd have to run thar

Back. I had time to try fixing it up, and now I am reminded why I had difficulty; when I deinstall Nehrim, Oblivion still doesn't work, and when I reinstall Nehrim hoping to at least be able to play that, that doesn't work either. Neither works by just deinstalling or reinstalling. I think it did overwrite something.

So, yeah. Some Nehrim file got attached to an important Oblivion file, or something. So I can't play either. Are you guys sure that there isn't an option to redownload a game fresh?

remove the ENTIRE oblivion folder, and reistall it from steam.

Tried it; I had done that multiple times already through the Steam client (y'know, Deinstall, Reinstall) and it didn't work, but now I've tried it your way, too, deleting the folder and then reinstalling.

Still doesn't work. Oblivion crashes immediately after I hit play.

Delete not only your SteamApps/Oblivion folder, but your saved games and other stuff found on your documents folder in Windows. Otherwise go and read the readme file that the mod came with, it should have instructions on how to uninstall completely.

I've never had your problem with uninstalling mods. Usually deleting the entire Oblivion folder works,
