The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

How do I install/play this?
Hi everyone. I bought Oblivion during the Christmas sales and it saved to my store account correctly. I was using a laptop at the time, rather than my PC, due to visiting famliy, and I have only just got back to my PC to take a look at this.

The trouble is, I can't work out how to install it. I don't see any options about this. I'm guessing it does actually need to be physically installed before I can play. Either way, I don't see the option to either install or play.

My 2 previous Steam games (Skyrim and the original King Arthur) were both downloaded via a physical copy, so I just had to put the DVD in to install and to play. I can't do that here so it's a problem.

I would be very grateful for any advice.

Update. Oblivion is now downloading (I didn't tell it to as I had no idea how to do that!) but it now claims that Skyrim and King Arthur are not installed. So frustrating. I guess I will have to start from the beginning with Skyrim...again.

I think I have a problem with the main Steam programme though I have no idea why. I have tried updating and repairing it and it won't allow me. I am very worried about uninstalling it and reinstalling in case I lose my games.

Yes, it needs to be installed to the computer that you are using before you can play. When you are in your game library make sure that you are in the detailed view. To do that, click on view, then click on games details. Single click on Oblivion. Right under the title in the big section there should be a greay button that says instal. Let me know if that works.
Sorry, i can't help you out on that one.

Thanks for the reply.

I must have right clicked by accident as Oblivion is now saying it's downloading so hopefully install is the same step or the one after that. It will probably take a while though so I'll update when things change.

I've been away from the PC for 3 weeks, that's all, and I'm sure I played Skyrim not that long before my departure, and frequently got logged into Steam by default whether I played or not. So it makes no sense that I've somehow uninstalled my other games. Unless it's because I was using a laptop to log into this website, but you wouldn't think that would make a difference,,,
i don't know since I only use one computer to play my games on, or even use steam with. If things don't change, I would contact steam support since I am somewhat new to the whole process myself.

Thanks. It's now stopped and I can't get back to the page I had before which I assume was the detailed view of the game library. If I can't do this tonight I may have to contact support.
