XBox 360 Game Controller LT/RT issue.
Hello!

How come I cannot use the Left Trigger and the Right Trigger on my xbox 360 controller when playing Oblivion on Steam? All the other buttons work, but just not those two. I'm playing the PC version.

I have the same problem, only my right stick won't look around too. does anyone have a solution?

I just found out that the right trigger and left trigger buttons don't work on Oblivion for the PC according to the Unofficial Elder Scrolls webpage. Strange. Your right stick should work. Have you tried configuring the Oblivion.ini file? Maybe that's your problem there. Here, look at this. These are my configurations in the Oblivion.ini file.

;X = 1, Y = 2, Z = 3, XRot = 4, YRot = 5, ZRot = 6
iJoystickMoveFrontBack=2
iJoystickMoveLeftRight=1
fJoystickMoveFBMult=2.0000
fJoystickMoveLRMult=2.0000
iJoystickLookUpDown=5
iJoystickLookLeftRight=4
fJoystickLookUDMult=0.7500
fJoystickLookLRMult=0.7500

Use that! It is the same config from the technical support window from the Oblivion launch menu.

@ David: Follow the instructions I gave to Rahn. I am guessing that might solve the problem.
Thanks player jay, my right stick now looks around. Now the only issue is to find out how to get the triggers to work.

@ Rahn: the triggers won't work for Oblivion. They are not mapped within the game itself, so you have to get Xpadder. Xpadder is where you can set your controller to mimic the keyboard or mouse. Once you do that, then you are able to use the trigger buttons. However, I did that and was able to use the trigger buttons, but it doesn't play like the Xbox 360 version of Oblivion. It doesn't "fit" right. Most of the time when I am pressing RT rapidly, my character would do power attacks instead of regular attacks. As a result, I stopped using the triggers buttons and went back to using the bumper buttons. Now, if you have a different game pad (non-xbox 360), that should do the trick, depending if that game pad's trigger buttons are different from the xbox 360 trigger buttons (design and sensitivity).

Anyway, go to this website:
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Controls#Xbox_360_Controller_for_Windows

There you will find information regarding the use of the Xbox 360 controller for Windows as well as the link to download Xpadder. I hope this will work for you.

Thanks man, I will stick with the bumpers for now. I needed the Right stick to move the most, and then the triggers were just icing on the cake. Thanks so much for the helpful tips on how to get the right stick working!

It's in the Read Me txt, strange they didn't set default to Xbox controller settings

Hey I just want to note here that if you do get Xpadder (It works beautifully) be sure to disable the joystick in the Oblivion ini ... it should be under busejoystick=1 change it to 0 or else oblivion will still cause your controller to act strangely
