I used to use one for Oblivion so I didn't have to keep getting the disk out but for the last few years I wasn't playing other games so just left it in the drive. Last year when I started modding another game which also needed a disk in the drive I decided to use the co-cd Oblivion.exe again. It works fine on W10 Pro.
DRM over the years has been a pain. Some games like Total War: Medieval II and Company Of Heroes could be a nightmare to load up even with the original disk in the drive because they would randomly decide to fail DRM checks. It's why I prefer games that run on the disk and don't rely on an internet connection for content or security checks. It just adds a level of complexity I don't need when I want to load up a game for an hour.
