Controller Issues
Just bought Oblivion for old times sake but recently I've been having mouse issues and I wanted to play Oblivion with my wired xbox 360 controller but the game doesn't seem to completely recognize it, some buttons work for example the left stick moves my character, b is jump and a is crouch and so forth but the right stick does nothing and to be honest a lot of the buttons that do work are configured weirdly.

I was just wondering if it is possible to get my controller to work on Oblivion and if so what I might need to do.

Any help, whether its a direct answer or just pointing me in the direction of one is much appreciated.

As far as I'm aware The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion was one of those earlier adopters of the Xbox 360 as a standard Windows controller. That being the case I would imagine the implementation is not as solid as in more recent titles.

Assuming the controller is no the problem and that it works correctly in other games I can think of two options:

1.) Reconfigure the controller in the options menu. This will be very limiting however.

2.) Download a program that will allow you to map keyboard commands to your controller. While this takes more effort it may very well be your best long term option. I use Pinnacle Game Profiler myself- http://pinnaclegameprofiler.com/. But, sadly, it is not free. There are other programs like it that are free but I don't have a terrible amount of experience with those. . .

I agree with Ryan, you arn't going to get your controller working unless you use a 3rd party program, though I suggest Xpadder. http://xpadder.com/, It's cheaper than Pinnacle and you can bind any keyboard and mouse action to the controller.

For example, you can bind the wasd keys to the left stick, the mouse movements to the right stick, and so on. You're just going to have to expirement with the software, find what you like and what is comfortable.

You dont have to buy xpadder at all....
you can get xpadder for free by just googling Xpadder Seven Free

if you use xpadder seven for this game it will work better than other versions. Its not 100% perfect but its better than using the mouse and keyboard.

Download xpadder seven and then google PC Oblivion xpadder seven profile and it should come up on the first few pages. download it and upload on the xpadder itself and it should work ok

I still have to press space on the keyboard to talk to people or open things because space on the controller THINKS im telling it to duck/sneak when im not

Like i said it isnt perfect but better than nothing
