The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

Please help!
Hi, all. I'm having trouble with a few quest givers not accepting the items I've retrieved for them. The current one is for Dagail at the Leyawiin Mage's Guild.

SPOILERS AHEAD!

I got her "seer stone" from her father's coffin at the fort, but she keeps saying nothing has changed. I'm trying to finish this quest and dealing with my character's "affliction" at the moment so I find this quite aggravating.

Which patch(es) do I need to fix this bug? I have the DLC. Just want to make sure I don't install anything that will erase my save files as I've played around 90 hours. I read that the necklace will respawn in the coffin after 3 days, but I don't know if that is with or without the patch. My understanding is that the patch will fix it and then I need to type a command into the console. On the same page, two other patches are mentioned.

I'm fairly computer savvy, but it would help if someone could explain what to do with the files. I'm running Windows 7. Thank you very much in advance. I love this game!

Before you install anything, have you tried reloading a previous save and trying to talk to Dagail again? Provided that you don't have to backtrack too much, it should work. Another solution would be to force the quest further by using the console.

Hit the ` key on your keyboard and type setstage MG07Leyawiin 100, and the quest will finish.

The UESP is your friend for these kind of situations, in fact, your bug is listed on the quest page. Did you kill Kalthar before you gave the amulet back to Dagail? Thats probably why the quest isn't continuing.

You can try the console, or you can install the Unoffical Oblivion Patch, whichever you feel more comfortable with.

Thank you for the info. I tried typing in what was on the Wiki page I found, but it was 70 at the end instead of 100 and I got an error.

Yes, I killed Kalthar and got his key. I noticed something odd when I was on my way out of the fort, though. On the pathway to get the amulet, I killed two marauders, but decided to leave their armor until I finished searching. I always take the most expensive stuff. The bodies of most of the people I killed were gone when I went back. I thought Kalthar had moved them to hide his deception, but now I'm wondering if that, too, was a bug. I've been back to the fort 3 times. The first woman I killed is still lying by the entrance. There were different people hiding in the fort. That seemed natural as bandits probably look for shelter and this was over the course of a few days.

After previous battles, everyone is still where they fell no matter how many saves or how long I wait to go back. That poor knight I inherited the castle from is still lying outside the gate.

Another thing I discovered after I posted this thread was a comment another player made on a YouTube video. He said he couldn't complete the quests as a vampire. Could that be the case? I keep hearing about the banning of necromancy and I'm wondering if the NPCs don't trust me.

I just wanted to post that your code with the 100 at the end, not 70, as I had tried before, worked. The quest updated. I still had the amulet in my inventory so I checked for a dialogue option with Dagail. There was none. I then went to her room and dropped the amulet on the floor beside her bed. After that, I spoke with Dagata. She repeated the same comment about necromancy, but this time, she added that the guild had no association with anyone who practices it. I've never worn Necromancer's Robes. I'm currently wearing armor.

Now I'm working on a cure for vampirism and other side quests with no problems. Thanks again.
