Gates not opening

I can’t open any gates in Oblivion - not Oblivion gates, regular gates - worked fine for first 150 hours of play but no more.. They also stay closed no matter what I do (I hear the sound effect for them opening but nothing happens). I e tried hitting them, pushing them, opening from different places but every gate is stuck. Anyone come across this? Any ideas what to do other than start again? Thanks

It sounds like a symptom of the Abomb glitch and there are fixes but to confirm it's definitely that try jumping a few times next to a gate or walk away from it and return to see if it eventually opens. It might not work for everyone but I noticed by jumping it caused gates and doors to open in very small increments. Another symptom of the abomb glitch are flames from open fires no longer flicker and appear frozen.

Are you playing vanilla, or do you have mods installed? Has anything changed in your computer system or game set-up recently, such as installing or uninstalling a mod? Are all the stuck gates in one location or is it happening in different caves/ruins?

I am not sure, from your information, what is happening, but:-
Try clearing cache if you have not already done so.
Try loading your last save from before this glitch occurred to see if it happens again.
