The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

Thieves Guild Fencing...
Just wanted to share my recent experience fencing for the Thieves guild. Probably the easiest mission I've done, or one of...
Wether you already join the thieves guild or not, before you try stealing anything from anyone and getting cauught for the independant thieving mission...

Go to Skingrad and complete quest revolving around Glarthir, the lunatic who thinks its all a conspiracy against him... eventually he will attack you, wether you, or gaurds kill him, you take his belongings... His key gives you unlimited access to his house, yet everything inside still considered his... with a red hand.

I've cleaned his house now, as most will recognize he ussually has the place littered with books and junk. First, find an empty chest inside, dump all your weighted items. After collecting alll his valuable items (as described in photo), anything 1+gold, exit house and to fast travel to Bruma, talk to Ongar the fence, adjust your disposition to its highest he will allow, and sell everything with the red hand. Even sell the items you wanna keep, including food, repair ahmmers, lockpicks... HOW MUCH, I made 449 gold from Glarthir's items.

If you still want those items, turn around and buy em back from Ongar, and they are clean. Don't have to worry about gaurds taking them next time your in trouble. Exit the pub, fast travel back to Skingrad, go to Glarthirs house, and in essenece its your new home... the bed is even available and you can use the chests and boxes for your items. Don't forget to grab your stuff back.

Have fun.

Nevermind.... the bed is NOT available. I noticed earlier the bed had a clear icon, not red... but I didn't try to sleep...
Now I tried, and it says CANNOT SLEEP WHILE TRESPASSING!! GAY.
I have a key, the owner is dead... It should be considered my home... oh well.

The main concern about doing that is that there is a risk of causing a bug that can break the Thieves Guild questline by causing the quest "Independent Thievery" to get stuck.

The bug is caused by fencing to much loot at one time. You will exceed the amount necessary to receive the next few special jobs all at once.

It is best to limit using the Thieves Guild fences to only the amount necessary to receive the next special job.

If you have alot of items to fence and steal alot of items to make money, it is best to sell the items to Fences that aren't affected by the Independant Thievery quest.

Those Fences include the following.

Manheim Mauland - Inn of Ill Omen.
Dark Brotherhood Murderers.
Jak Silver - Thieves Den Plug-in.

You can sell these guys as much stolen loot as you want without breaking the Thieves Guild questline.

OOPS! Had I known that would of been good...
I've already sold those items, and moved on. I havn't gone back to the thieves guild guy to report update... but i'm just out adventureing... But accomplished other things like exploring along trail to Azura's Shrine... and saved sense. Can I spare from bug still? Maybe?

It is just a random bug. It doesn't always happen. You might be ok. You can always use console to advance the quest if it should get stuck.
I don't even know what Console is.. lol. :!
I seen it mentioned, but never understood. I guess if need comes up for it, I'll find out. Thanks though...for letting me know.
