I find it pretty cool, not just calling it "Vampirism". Also, it is a common loading screen message.
Being a Vampire isn't so bad though. It gives you some decent stat boosts. Becoming a vampire when just starting the game is really nice because of the stat increases. It makes you resist normal damage, lets you carry more from Strength boost, and run faster.
The only thing is that you will have to get used to is saving your game before sleeping so you don't start the second stage of Vampirism until the sun goes down or are in a position to feed to revert back to the first stage.
It is relatively easy to maintain the first stage of Vampirism to avoid sun damage. If you get your restoration skill high enough you can create a regen spell to counteract the sun damage from later stages of vampirism.
The only thing that really sucks about Vampirism imo is how it makes your character ugly and old looking. I usually play as a girl because they are easier on the eyes and because you will spend most of your time staring at your characters ass while in 3rd person. Having to stare at that old wrinkley ass gives me flashbacks of the Shining bathroom scene in room 237.
I usually cure myself when my strength gets close to 100 since those vampire stat boosts count towards your maximum.
here is its ID number: 000977E4
If you are willing to cheat to remove it you may have another option to remove it first.
If you have the deepscorn hollow DLC just go to deepscorn hollow. When you get there go to the font of renewal which is a pool of water in a torch lit room that is mostly empty looking. Around the pool are Purgeblood Crystal formations where you can mine some Purgeblood salts. You don't need any upgrades to use them. Use the purgeblood salts and it will cure your vampirism without cheating.
That will allow you to complete the vampire cure quest in the future if you ever want to.
If you don't have deepscorn hollow dlc then you can use the code to create the cure for vampirism by entering the following code into console.
player.additem 000977E4 1
Another way to do it using console is to first go feed to remove the sun damage penalty if any and then enter the following commands.
set pcvampire -1
set vampire.hasdisease -1
This will remove vampirism, but you may retain your vampire abilities and might have to remove them manually or you can just keep them.
After you cure yourself, if you ever want to be infected again type in the following commands.
set pcvampire 0
set vampire.hasdisease 0
