My First Ever Crash at Startup! (CTD)
So I am a Huge fan of Oblivion and I just got done spending an hour downloading: Under the sign of the dragon - Tamriel Landscapes - by onra, and: Under the sign of the dragon - Tamriel Heightmaps - by onra which adds Black marsh, Summerset isle and Valenwood and Elsweyr Provices to the game,

The DL is either Manual or NMM Download, I use NMM by default so I don't have to worry about the Load order even though I know how to do it mistakes happen and I like to avoid that! I activated all the mods which really are all one just seperated into smaller mods(in my opinion) then checked everything launched the game, so thrilled to explore other provinces then: Bam! as soon as the game launched it closed out no black screen just went back to desktop (CTD) I'm thinking now that perhaps the files were designed for Manual DL not NMM as the Modder added a load order. If anyone on here uses that set of mods can you perhaps tell me what i did wrong? Please and thank you!

Did you perform a fresh install of the game prior to installing those mods? By Fresh install I mean uninstall the game and then delete the left over Oblivion folder in the steamapps common folder and any other files located in your documents including the Oblivion.ini.

You should delete everything Except for any Saves you may have before reinstalling the game. Keeping saves should be fine.

What you are experiencing has happened to me after uninstalling certain mods and it continues to happen after a basic reinstall. I usually have to perform a fresh install to fix it. I'm not sure what the cause is, but something is corrupting the new install causing the CTD to persist.

Fresh install isn't required to install mods correctly "clean saves" are recommended but not required which is what you may be thinking of, but it may be that where this adds new LOD textures and Lands to the game that it may require a fresh install in the case of this type of mod, though no mention is made in any Land mods of having to do so.

Note: Think i found the culprit after the requirements section of the mod it says something about Archive Invalidation for BSA files and the mod has around 3-4 BSA files so i am DLing the Archive Invalidation hopefully this is all I need though we'll see, though technically that bit should have been in the Requirements section it's easy to miss!

One of the Main reasons I downloaded this family of mods which make one big mod (over 800MB) is because i have side_s Sailing Ships and the game as is has very little sailing area and this mod(s) I have been trying to download allows much more water for me to sail on, but i was also wondering if RemoveBorders ini. would allow me to sail more, I know if it does there is gonna be very bland scenery when and if I go around Tamriel but if it works then I'll do that instead! Thanks again.
