Stuck at initial setup.

Hi all, open the game from Steam and it just sits there installing DirectX, no error messages or anything, just will not get past that little screen. Any help would be much appreciated! Steam support is down at the moment :(

I'm not sure if it will help, but try reinstalling directx before running Oblivion. There could be an issue with your directx that is causing the problem.

sometimes when it does that just press the close icon on the steam installer for directx. after closing, press play again. works for me most of the time

Hey man, i just tried something here, i had the same problem, loading screen and desktop with a error. I just deleted the Oblivion saves folder, located in My Games, in your documents. And worked!
