The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

Difficulty?
I'm playing with the difficulty slightly above the middle and this seems undo-able. I'm a Khajit Assassin and I barely finished the "introduction" and I went to Fort Nikel and I get 3 hitted by the Orc that's there. I beat Skyrim on Master (on console), but I can't do this? Not to mention the "difficulty bar" is not full! Why?

When your done if peed off with thr base game try francesco mod it balances the leveled up creatures issue. If you want to go uber hard try the OOO mod at some later date, goodluck.
so basically, unlike skyrim where i can wander basically anywhere i want at any level, i have to advance to some extent to be able to kill some monsters in some areas

it's funny when the rats can gnaw you in half in 0.5 seconds.

I am of the belief that even when the developers label a difficulty 'impossible' it should actually be beatable and not literally impossible.

I played it on hardest difficulty in the past and even with armor at the max of 85, magic resist at like 90(100% seems like cheating), good spell reflect, good damage reflect, max strength, max weapon skill, super-enchanted weapon I still got my ass handed to me half the time.

just play game, do not level up as you get masage, wait... keep playing, when its become to easy level up few levels. i have notice that most changes are after each 5 level, so you can like in start level up to 4 and world level up just bit, when you past level 5 new enemy will show up, and then till level 9 world level up just bit, pass level 10 and again stronger enemys... if you catch my drift

Bethesda doesn't know how to do Difficulty Settings, that's why. Skyrim's Master Difficulty is extremely easy for anyone to complete. However in Oblivion, the game is ridiculously hard if you try to go above 50-75% difficulty. Their other games also don't scale well with difficulty either.

I know this was 2 years ago but are you all that bad at the game? I have less than 100 hp at level 10 and im still going through the game without too much trouble.
All you need is conjuration and illusion.
Summons aren't affected by the difficulty, and with illusion you can command creatures, i.e making them fight for you.
Frenzy makes humanoids attack anyone, i.e their allies.
just frenzy everyone then back off while your summon joins the fight. ez pz, you still get 1 shot usually tho, so watch out.

Just install a leveling mod like "Realistic Leveling," "Oblivion XP," or "All +5 Attribute Modifiers." There are plenty more leveling mods than that, so you should be able to find something that you like, and be able to role-play and not worry about having to micro-manage your skills, and can just play the game.

Actually if you know the right spells and enchantments it won't be that difficult to you. But at first time when you have no Conjuration and the Intelligence for it(if you are warrior for example), yeah, it will be too difficult but not impossible. If you are warrior, for example, use shield spell and enchantment that will help you a lot, believe me. For now(I'm playing right now it for the first time), for example, bandits and necromancers give me no trouble. But, to be honest, to say nothing about Minotaur Lords and Ogrs(sorry for my English), them I can beat for now only with Conjuration.
