How do I use first person? HELP?

How do I change to first person? I started the game, its in 3rd person, I try to walk I can only walk into the wall or move left and right without turning like im on a grid, I move my camera to look behind me and hit foward just to talk back into the wall that my camera is not facing. I try to hit the key I hav to "change view" but it does nothing, and scrolling in and out just stops the camera behind my char.

I cant turn around in 3rd person for some bloody reason, and first person isnt working. What can i do? (Note: I have no mods instailed and its a fresh download)

did that, same problem. I even made a new char, was in first person for 1 second the game kicked me to 3rd person and same problem went on. I cant turn my char around, the first pperson buttion doesnt work, scrolling just moves the camer on my back, and the game kicks me out of first person when amking a new char. I uninstiled, reinstailed, reset a few times now and same problem. Its made the game unplayable as I cant even turn around or use first person....so what now?

delete the folder located in My Documents/My Games and see if that makes any difference (back it up first)

Do you have any joypads plugged in? Or anything of the sort? The regular hotkey for it is R.

Maybe a stupid question, but is your mouse ok? maybe the whell has some kind of malfunction.

What folder would that be? (what named folder?)

No, I dont. The option for anlog sticks to move and turn the camera are grayed out as well in the options.I checked the options for the button, and the button wont even work, and I have remapped it to seer if it was my key and it was not.

My mouse works fine playing morrowwind and skyrim. Also keep in mind the game had me in first person when making a char and kicked me out of it. The scrolling can scroll far out, I scroll in and it appears at my char's back.

I ended up deleting the entire game and reinstiling, this time around it worked. No clue what casued the problem, but for now its randomly fixed. Thanks for the replies...

i have this same problem (both on this game and fallout three and possibly my other games too) it never started doing this until after the attempted hack of steam or whatever it was not long ago. so i dunno if that caused it or what. i didn't have any of my games installed either at the time cuz my laptop sucked. i just got a new laptop and was hoping the problem would fix itself. i've reinstalled twice now and i don't know what to do.

Heres what fixed it for me, disable your middle mouse button and bam it worked.

how exactly do i do that? using windows 8.1 if that matters

I disabled it on windows 7 by going to control pannel, mouse, and disabling it in advance controls. Not sure about windows 8.1

i reinstalled morrowind and it works fine. it's just oblivion and fallout 3 that i have this problem with (just like with the view change button i can't attack either no matter what i set the button as)
