The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

KIlling NPCs without getting harassed by guards
So I got annoyed by some NPCs and decided to send them to their makers. I did so without any guards witnessing the crime, yet next time I see a guard, he runs towards me and try to jail me?

What gives?

Are we able to toast NPCs without getting into trouble?

No. Any witnesses must be killed too. And despite not being able to speak, that includes animals. Some random deer or bunny sees it, you get a bounty. Bounty = being hassled by guards.

I'm pretty damn sure no one / nothing saw me doing it. I'll try again and find out.

Haha. So I read more on Crime section of the game and have more understanding on this topic now.

If you have a horse, it will turn you in. Also, always steal horses from behind where they can't see you.

If I steal a horse, without being seen by anyone, will I get into trouble with (future) guards?

Just use 100% chameleon for stuff like this.

Nope. But once you get off the horse it will start wandering away, and you'll have to re-steal it. Better to not be a scum and buy your own damned horse.

So if I buy my own horse, dismount it, fast travel to a different part of the map, is there a way for me to summon my horse to the new location? That would make logical sense, otherwise traveling back to fetch my horse would be a PITA.

Never mind:

"To take advantage of the horse's speed when fast traveling, you must mount the horse before starting to fast travel."
