The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

Failed Quest
Possible spoilers for new players...

I started A Brotherhood Betrayed and then went off and contracted Porphyric Hemophilia. (Oh, the irony!) I'd forgotten this quest is time limited. So, I was in a cave when I got the disease, followed by the notification that 24 hours had passed since Raynil Dralas had left Bruma.

I then hurried back to get a potion which I thought I'd left in my house in Bruma, and it was after the shops had closed. I ended up having to go to Frostcrag Spire for a cure. This is the one time I actually left most of my healing potions in a chest. I'm aggravated because Raynil was gone when I finally made it to the cave.

Does anyone know if I'd be able to respawn him there and complete the quest? I've used the console for an NPC I could never find in the past, but not for this sort of thing. This is really just an OCD-ish thing for me. I really don't need that amulet, but I hate failing quests. :-D

(I tried typing in his reference ID to move him to me, but I got an error.) Thanks in advance for any help.

You'll probably have to reload a past save. I don't think you can undo a failed quest.

I agree with Equinoxinator.

But you can handle some console command.
I can tell some more information to meet Raynil.
You must Enable him (because he has been disabled)
And resurrect him.
go to console mode ----------
prid "Ref-ID"
enable
resurrect 1
moveto player
-----------------------------------
But to meet him again might not help to complete Quest you failed.

Thank you for replying. It's my fault for not paying more attention to the quest stages. I've always gone straight to the cave and never had any issues completing the quest. It's been a while since I played this game, though.

After I posted here, I noticed that I was meant to go right away. The notification didn't pop up, or I missed it somehow. I always have several quests in progress, so I just went on to another one after speaking to the guard about Raynil. At least I'll know for my next playthrough.

I guess I'm not going to stress about it. There was a nice potion in one of the chests. I don't remember the name of it, but it's over 2,000 gold if you buy it from any merchant (strong spell reflection or absorption?) even when their disposition is 100. Ha! I'm a Master Alchemist, but no one pays me that much for any of my potions. Guess it's not too bad that I failed the quest after all. (I was a bit sad when I had to tell Bradon's wife that Raynil escaped.)

I couldn't find my save, and I'd already gone clear across the map by the time this all happened. Thanks again. :-)
