The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

Where is my DLC?!
Okay so a looooooooooooong time ago I bought the Game Of The Year Deluxe version of this game, and I've never noticed I've had any DLC. When I go to my Steam library, and click view DLC, it says I have none. I have the Shivering Isles and Knights plug-in but nothing else. Also I have installed and reinstalled this game a lot of times. I really want to do the Mehrunes Razor DLC for the armor, but the only DLC it's told me about is either Knights of the Nine or Shivering Isles. Basically the only DLC quest I've got so far is something like "There is a strange door in *wherever*, I should go to investigate. I've had that since escaping the sewers, but nothing else so far. I'm only around level 7 though so I'm not sure if these are level activated or what, but that's the only thing. Also my plugins order are Oblivion, then Shivering Isles, and then Knights, and then my mods. Is that alright or? Please help I'm kinda worried like, why it's doing this. And yes, I have bought the GOTY deluxe version, I'm sure of this.

That's the knights of the Nine or Shivering Isles
Not that sure
But enjoy the horse armor

It's SI, I looked it up. How do I get the Horse Armor? And all that small shizzle as well Knights and SI. The GOTY deluxe is supposed to include it.

First of all:
Is it even active?
Seriously is your DLC activated trough the launcher?
Should be under Data Files
It's been a few months since i last played but it should be under there

Yes it is. Both Shivering Isles and Knights are installed and checked and "active", however I've only had the quest for SI, as of yet. And also remember I should have the smaller DLC's also like horse armor and Mehrunes Razor and all that poo.

I also have the same edtion and it does not list anything under DLC so not sure what that means.

Anyway first have you tried verifying game cache? Often times with down loads bits of data get missed so you should always verify cache after an install. Another thing I'd suggest is to disable every mod and launch the game "vanilla" see if things show up. It is possiable that a mod might be nerfing things(hopefully you use a manger if not you should). If it all shows up then enable your mods again and see if things show up if not you'll have to trouble shoot and figure out the culprit.

I know that you have to install the unoffical pathces a certain way troubles will arise and DLC will not show up.

1) Verify game cache
2) Check to see if you get the notices
3) if not disable all mods and try again
4) Trouble shoot mods

There is no stand-alone purchasable DLC for Oblivion GOTY, so Steam won't show you any. It's different to the old stand-alone Oblivion release (that's no longer available for purchase) - the extras are packaged into it as one sale, they're not treated as separate items. You're not missing anything.

(Oddly enough, it looks like the "no separate DLC" thing goes for both the GOTY and GOTY Deluxe versions - if you want to get the additional DLC that the standard GOTY version lacks, you've gotta buy the whole GOTY Deluxe package.)

Games are often re-packaged like this when they've been on the store long enough to undergo some decent price drops. Skyrim will likely go the same way sooner or later. Different publishers handle it differently, though.

Edit:

If, on the other hand, you're looking at the Data Files the Oblivion launcher shows you (as opposed to the DLC panel Steam's game properties show you) and don't see "DLCHorseArmor.esp" and so on, then yes you are missing things.

Oblivion GOTY gives you Knights of the Nine + Shivering Isles. GOTY Deluxe gives you that plus a bunch more esp files such as the horse armor.

If you lack the esps you reckon your should have, I suggest going to the Steam menu up the top left of your client, entering Settings, then on the Account tab go into View Account Details. Check Store Transactions there - get the name, date and price of the purchase, see what that says.

How do I verify the cache? Also, I'm almost 100% a mod is not interfering.

Okay Bomb Bloke, so I checked my Steam purchase history and it does say "Oblivion Game of the Year edition" only. However, yesterday, before the new layout, I checked both the GOTY and the GOTY Deluxe versions out on the steam store, and when on GOTY Deluxe, it notified me that I already owned the game, but with the regular GOTY, it did not. Today I checked and it says I own the game on both versions I check out. Also, I have this text file in my Oblivion data folder called "DLCList", and this is what it includes

# This file is used by Oblivion to keep track of your downloaded content.
# Please do not modify this file.

DLCHorseArmor.esp

DLCMehrunesRazor.esp

Knights.esp

DLCShiveringIsles.esp

DLCVileLair.esp

DLCFrostcrag.esp

DLCBattlehornCastle.esp

DLCSpellTomes.esp

DLCThievesDen.esp

Yet I can't find the esp's anywhere in the data folder. And I'm pretty sure it wouldn't say all the extra DLC's if it was just the regular GOTY. Also it seems a lot like me that I would pay a little extra to get all the stuff, but I can't remember since it was a while ago. Quite frustrating.

What price did you see in the purchase history? No matter what, that value should be accurate, given that it coresponds to what you paid at the time (as opposed to what the product costs now).

Another thing to check would be the email that got sent out when you placed the order to begin with - see what title that gives you.

Sometimes people package files by accident. It's wouldn't be the first time, nor the last.

Edit:

Another quirk about Steam - when a game goes on sale, any alternate versions of that game go on sale too (eg, Deluxe/Lengendary/other bundled versions).

However, the "Deluxe" versions aren't always the ones which end up on the front page where the sales are announced - if you don't know there's an alternate version (or don't know to look for one), it's quite easy to miss that there's a better deal available.

Another point which goes hand-in-hand with the above; even if you do know that there's a "Deluxe" version of a game available, if you wishlist that Deluxe version, then the link that goes on your wishlist may point to the non-Deluxe version (depending on the game). In this case, it's not so much a matter of not spotting the better version as knowing it's there but being led to the wrong product.

So I'm thinking you ran into one of the above two scenarios, either buying the non-Deluxe build because you 1) saw it on special and for whatever reason didn't see the Deluxe build on special too or 2) wishlisted the Deluxe version, later went to buy off your wishlist, and didn't spot that it led you to the non-Deluxe version.

I guess those are two scenarios the new store layout may prevent in future.

I doubt I still have the email, and it doesn't tell me what I paid. Thinking back I'm really sure I remember seeing the deluxe, just not sure whether I bought it. But it seems like me to do so, as well as the DLC list in the data folder, and Steam saying I own the deluxe, really makes me think that I did actually buy it. Really not sure with that one.

You need to find something, I think in "profile" that says something along the lines of "transactions"
