They hired Liam Neeson for fallout 3, and did pretty much the same thing (except that character disappears, and then comes back to die like 20 mins later).
I think what it is is that Bean ALWAYS dies. Stewart tends to live in most things he's in (he dies in Macbeth at least), and Neelson dies as Qui-Gon and as Batman's mentor turned bad guy in the newer films. The only time I haven't seen Sean Bean die was when he was Odysseus in Troy. That's it.
