Can I mod Oblivion if the version I'm running is on a CD-ROM?
I have an old copy of Oblivion on disk, however it's one of the older copies that requires the disk to remain in my computer for the game to be able to run. Can I still mod it? And if not, is there a way around it? It's just the standalone game, so I don't have any DLC/expansion packs like Horse Armor or the Shivering Isles.

EVERY VERSION OF THAT GAME CAN BE MODDED! Why people are asking? you only need to update it to latest version. and don't get those mods which requires DLC. simple....

I'm asking because I saw somewhere else on some other forum that some guy was having trouble modding anything at all Oblivion-related because his copy was a physical first-edition copy.

Well, I've had it too. (Physical version) Maybe he didn't updated his game? idk.

Cant you just put the cd code in the "Add a game/ Activate a game" section in the bottom of the steam ui? You should be able to download a copy that way. If not, just torrent the game; you own a copy already. It runs faster if it's not relying on the disc too I think.

There is no CD code for it. I can add the game to my Library as a non-Steam game, but it still requires the disk to run.
