Transferring saves between PCs
So i recently acquired a new PC and wondered what I would have to do to continue playing my save file on the new PC.

So far i've thought of copying the save to a USB and plug it in the new one, but whe i click properties it is made clear that it is possible to store information on the steam cloud.

Now this would make it much simpler but i know not of how to put the save on the cloud, or if that is even possible in the first place.

If your saves are stored into the cloud they will automatically upload to your new PC when you launch Steam.

Make sure the cloud sync is active. If Cloud sync is unchecked, activate it then launch the game. Save your game and exit and the cloud will upload all your saves.

If you want to play it safe I would back up the last few current saves on a flashdrive or disc. The saves are stored in your documents under My Games.

I have the cloud sync active, but it says that 0 bytes are stored out of 953MB.
(the game has also not yet been installed to the new PC)

So maybe if i installed it i would see a change in the cloud usage.

If the game isn't installed on the new PC the cloud won't update.

It will be easier and faster if you just copy your Oblivion folder from your "My Games" folder ("C:\Users\<user>\Documents\My Games\Oblivion"). That one has your saves and configuration files, or maybe just the "Saves" folder inside the "Oblivion" folder if you want to backup only your save files.

It's even easier to use the steam cloud.

Not when it doesn't work... I have lost many hours of gameplay in other games because of that, so I stopped using it and disabled it :cgrazz:. I make my own backups now and for me, that's easier, faster and more reliable.
