What's the best NPC to murder for the Dark Brotherhood?

So, I was wondering. If you wanted to join the Brotherhood as soon as possible, who is the easiest person to murder (that you have access to before the battle of Kvatch) that is not important to quests and triggers the Brotherhood?

The Gray Prince but it requires a little work. Obviously you'll need to join the Arena and work up to the final championship match. However, before you fight him you first have to do his quest (the one where you discover his lineage) and return to him. When you face him in the Arena he doesn't fight back and it counts as a murder however the guards overlook it.

Umbra.

You can get an awesome sword and armor at level 1 and meet the requirement for the dark brotherhood at the same time.

All you need to do to beat Umbra at level 1 is to obtain the Goblin Totem Staff from Timberscar Hollow, which is part of the Goblin Trouble quest that you can get from Crestbridge Camp.

Once you have the staff, go to Vindasel, just jump up on a ledge and then blast Umbra with it until she is dead. There is a rock just outside Vindasel that makes it easy to blast her while staying out of her range.

There are two totem staffs inside Timberscar Hollow. Just run inside and take them, then run for your life.

The staves are very expensive items, which can get you some cash early on in the game.

Easiest way of entering the Dark Brotherhood? Have you ever though about simply entering by the main door first?

If you know where their "secret" HQ is and can lockpick the doors, they won't attack you and will, instead, grant you a audience with the Dark Brotherhood leader. He will gives you a untimed quest (which you can complete whenever you want) that require to kill an innocent farmer (if I remember correctly) that, if you assassinate, doesn't put any bounty on you. (if you attack him up front, it does put a bounty on your head).

To assassinate, you need to equip a dagger and hold the attack button from behind. If the total damage you deal (with the critical included) exceed the target's HP, you'll do throat slicing animation with the camera in front. Cool thing about assassination is that if you do them while nobody is looking at the target, you don't have any bounty on your head. (But, for this I'm not sure anymore if you had to be at least in initiate the DB initiation quest or not)

Are you sure you're in the right Elder Scrolls forum? This sounds like either an Online thing or mods, because you certainly cannot lockpick your way into the Brotherhood in Oblivion and there is no throat-cutting in this game.

In Morrowind you joined the Morag Tong by lockpicking your way into their headquarters, but there was no throat-cutting animation in that game either.

Are you sure you're in the right Elder Scrolls forum? This sounds like either an Online thing or mods, because you certainly cannot lockpick your way into the Brotherhood in Oblivion and there is no throat-cutting in this game.

Never bother with the difficulty slider, it's utterly broken. I think it was just thrown in without thinking. The game is essentially unplayable at max difficulty. I just keep it at the default setting.

Yeah I used to set Slider +6 to +8.
With VCE and MOO it works fine

There's nothing wrong with necroing threads if the information is still relevant.
As for this thread, the information is still relevant because it gets asked even still to this day.

If you cant find the answer. Opening a new thread is appropriate. Not necroing.
