How to throughly enjoy Oblivion? To-do list
So I REALLY want to hop onto Oblivion and play it throughly for times sake. Im a huge Skyrim fan and I really enjoy Oblivion's quest and style a lot better compared to it so Im looking to play Oblivion again (properly) and enjoy it. What are things that i should do from beginning to end that you guys reccomend? What I do is get out of the sewers, dungeon a bit, then to Anvil for the Fighters Guild. Please give me a good way to enjoy the game. Thanks! :D

My suggestion is to get a leveling mod so you don't have to micromanage your skill levelups, but just get on with the business of actually playing the game. It's probably a "cheat" in some opinions, but I would never play the game without one.

What I use: http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/3392/?

I think leveling-system is fine. But you can choose however you want. I always use alternate starting mods, because I just get bored for starting same style again. Okay, it is cheating because you can get your house for free, but I use them still. But you don't need to use those mods. Or any mods, because vanilla-game is good the way it is. Or you can use some mods. However you like.

you'll enjoy a lot of the questlines, so i'd reccomend doing those first. fighters guild is okay, mages guild is a bit silly considering you don't need to know any magic in order to complete it (although this is the case in skyrim as well). thieves guild in this game is okay as well (although it'll look amazing compared to the travesty that is the skyrim thieves guild), but dark brotherhood is really the best. the whodunit quest is one of my favorite quests in the game to do.

also, shivering isles. i don't think there's a single thing about that dlc that isn't brilliant.

apart from that, just develop your character. if you're like me and play rpg's with the mindset of your character being their own person instead of just being an extension of yourself, you'll find things to do as you explore more into the game. and if not, just find stuff that you think would be fun to do regardless.

i don't mod oblivion heavily so i wouldn't be able to tell you what to install in that department, but a lot of people swear by fcom (a mod mashup that contains some really popular mods) as a way to enhance the game in general. there's also the unofficial oblivion patch if you don't like any of the silly and sometimes hilarious unintentional bugs that the game has

1st Apply the Unofficial Patches for the game
2nd Enjoy your 1st playthrough w/o using any mods that adds new places, quest, overhaul graphics,gameplay... *To enjoy what bethesda created for us
3rd Use different mods that you like to enchance your game :)

I would recommend a few things.

1. The Fighter's Guild - I haven't finished it yet (busy counting my money) but it is a good way to gearn money and do some interesting and weird quests.

2. The Mage's Guild - Not spoiling anything unless you want me to, but it is a ery fun and interesting quest if you like running around everywhere, but the bonuses are good.

3. Run around doing quests is always fun, I like the Shrines especially.

4. Shivering isles is fun, it is different and listening to Sheogorath can cheer a bad mood up

5. Crusader Relics is a good way to get some great armour/weapons, but you have to do a lot of exploring and get an online map since the ingame map is horrible with low graphics though to medium. This one offers a lot of hard work and combat to earn the relics. Also treasures to find

6. The main quest! That's a good one. The quest is nicely done could be better but it's arguably the best quest in the game

7. Explore the land, find caves, fight

8. Set the difficulty to Normal (middle) Because Easy is just TOO easy, gets boring. My sister plays it on Easy and she hardly everlevels up and gets the worst items.

9. Thieves Guild, if you like stealing.

10. Dark Brotherhood is a murder 'guild' you get into it by killing someone (do it secretly to avoid fines) and then sleep. Self explanotory from there

11. Arena! How could I forget. Probably the best way to get money. I earn 4000+ every two weeks right now, and my pay is rising!!

12. Get a Skingrad house (50,000 Gold for a full house with all furnishings). Decorate it with all sorts of stuff like gems and brighten it up a bit.

13. Follow your own ways, let your creative self take you exploring, try not to walk into monsters.

HAVE FUN
Hope I helped
