The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Glitch of Doom
So, I recently read about a gamebreaking glitch that can occur if you spend 500+ hours in the game that causes animations to slow to a crawl to the point the game is practically unplayable rendering that save file completely unusable as well.

Is there a way to circumvent this glitch or is it an inevitable eventuality?

I know that when I played on PS3, I had a save that definitely surpassed that amount of hours, I did not have any bugs occur in all the time I played [a lot] just in general.

Just to be safe, you can install UOP here; https://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/5296

I have never seen this, but,, I have had a problem with too many saves in the saved games folder. Once you reach the maximum (It is somewhere above 600 files) the next save will be corrupted. Solution:- Keep regular "important point" saves which you name manually with a single significant word (ie:- LEVEL_26) using the console save command and regularly prune out other saves from your "saves" folder, you won't be needing them again anyway so dump them into the recycling bin. (Never use the "quick save" option, btw.)

Quick save is cool

On a side note, how could you play this game for 500+ hours and not have done literally everything there is to do in the game?

If you mean the A-Bomb glitch, you can reset the A-bomb counter with Wrye Bash too... that's a standard tweak for Oblivion that Wrye bash had since 2007 or so.

Well, TES are open-world RPGs...
