im willing to try anything at this point ive cleaned all my mods and im still having to save like every 30 secs cuz im always randomly crashing everywhere.
First off, this game came out when we still had transition from single core CPU to dual core, most gaming machines had at best 2 GB RAM (or up to 4GB) which again is a common issue when modders add more and larger textures etc that also need to be allocated in the limited space Oblivion engine can address.
Even with tools like 4GB patcher you will have crashes and instability, so avoid to use too many mods that will use system RAM. Don't use mods that will change landscape too much (as most gamers expect to have a very large landscape which looks nice, but can cause issues when LOS is as far as to distant mountain and horizon, including NPCs that isn't shown, but still have to be calculated in background, weather mods that adds new features that also take processing power and RAM etc).
Use this tool (4GB patcher) to increase LAA.

Keep Oblivion as basic as possible for mods that will change how game look. QTP3 R - Qarls Texture Pack III Redimized is doing a good job to improve how everything in game looks with better texture and lightning.

Pick mods that are based on OBSE to handle how certain things work in game as a lot Oblivion issues have been related to UI, handling of background tasks in game play etc.
Improving UI will go a long way to make Oblivion feel better and also to add Maskar's Overhaul which adds NPCs, new features and more interesting gameplay. As far as I can tell this overhaul is rather stable (game can still crash, but it is not that often).
The very reason why Skyoblivion have been long standing project is that will try to move game from GameBryo engine to Skyrims engine as Skyrim have been updated with a better engine to handle how modern OS work with SMP (Simultaneous Multi Processing) and can address more system RAM.

The game crashes almost 100% of the time if I alt + tab even once, usually not long afterwards, so as soon as the game is launched from my Mod Organizer 2 I have to stay locked-in. It's kind of restrictive but at least the game works now. Not sure if you've been doing the same.
