Why remake Skyrim 4 Oblivion and not Skyrim 3 Morrowind?

Fanbase of Oblivion is much larger.

It's also much closer to modern open world action games in terms of design. So it'll need less work to remake.

I played both and at the time of their release and i disagree. I mean, there are things i liked more about Morrowind, like the longer storyline and much larger group of side quests, but Oblivion even though it was shorter had the better story and antagonist, had way more varied landscapes and biomes as well as more interesting characters.

I don't think it would be possible to remake Morrowind in a way that pleases both the original fans and modern audiences. Since Bethesda cares more about money (or Microsoft, since they now own Bethesda), they would probably modernize everything to appeal to a more modern audience, but that would ruin the feel of the game. I can see Oblivion being modernized without affecting it too much because gameplay combat is already so similar to Skyrim, just with some attributes, a few different skills, automatic perk unlocks when your skills reach a certain level. Morrowind has dice roll combat, and modernizing that would require remaking all of it

Oblivion was a Staple of the xbox 360. it was even printed on the box it came in.

Morrowind was very much a PC title with an xbox port.

If this sells well perhaps we'll see a remake of Skyrim 3: Morrowind, but honestly I'd prefer even now to see remakes of Skyrim 1: Arena and Skyrim 2: Daggerfall

Morrowind has nothing to do with Skyrim, it's situated in a different province, and the games are related only via the same publisher, the same theme (The Elder Scrolls), and that the Skyrim engine is based on the Morrowind engine (with questionable modifications).

How about calling Skyrim "Starfield 5"?
