Oblivion Coffee Table – A Cozy Corner for Cyrodiil Conversations
Pull up a chair, grab a Tamrielic coffee (or Skooma, no judgment here) – this is the unofficial chill thread for The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Think of it as a cozy inn table where fans gather to share odd little stories, nostalgic moments, and random musings that don’t quite fit anywhere else.

Post anything from:
• Bizarre NPC encounters
• Personal adventures and roleplay stories
• Mod discoveries that blew your mind
• Favorite locations you always return to
• Glorious glitches, weird physics, or just pure vibes

A few cozy questions to get things rolling:
• What was your “wow” moment in Oblivion?
• Which city always ends up feeling like home?
• Got a mod that changed the game for you forever?
• How many times have you quoted Sheogorath without realizing it?

No pressure, no meta, no stress. Just Oblivion. Just you and a few folks at the table talking about why we still can’t stop loving this beautifully weird game.

Pet rats instead of Morrowind's enemy rats. The melee and bow opponent's language trying to drive down your esteem and courage.
Oblivion was one of my first games on the PC. Before Oblivion, I played Rollercoaster Tycoon and Zoo Tycoon and Runescape and Spore and the Sims 3. So an open-world RPG was a whole new world for me and completely changed what I thought games could be. That was 12 years ago, now.
My first character was a wood elf named "Paw", and that's the first character I make in any ES game I've played since.
To this day I'm still struck by how vibrant Cyrodil is compared to other popular open-world games. It can be truly beautiful sometimes, even without mods.
I love Skingrad's architecture the best.
Oblivion was the first game I followed before release, being a big fan of morrowind. I was ready to buy the game at release and about 3 weeks before release it hot pushed back another 5 months. That was the longest 5 months of my life.

When it did finally come out, I played the crap out of it, but ultimately it became the biggest disappointment in gaming history for me and is the reason I don't follow games before release.

When I try to replay it to this day I just get a bad taste in my mouth and quit and play morrowind or Skyrim instead.

Skyrim I didn't follow before release, just knew it was coming out and location and some basics, and I was actually pleasantly surprised because it took many steps back in the right direction from oblivion.

Yeah, it is best to not expect anything, and even better to buy the game of sale. Never preorder at least.
