The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

Oblivion Remake
What's people though's on the official remake that might come out this year? If it even exists which I think it does.
I'm about even on it, has a lot of chance to improve, but also a lot to make it worse.

I think it doesn't exist, and on the low chance that it does exist, it'll just be a lazy port made for consoles, the PC version running at highest settings, maybe with 4k support.

Certainly won't be a remake running on Unreal Engine and featuring soulslike combat, and whatever else the ''leaks'' said.
ate your words so badly it's insane...

Already released. Only nitpicks I had with it, Uriel Septim looks WEIRD, almost cartoony, and the Ayleid ruins lost their shiny white that made them easy to see in the distance

The remake looks every bit as soulless as I thought it would. They injected woke propaganda, it's on the unreal engine, and the devs aren't interested in adding mod support. It's yet another demake for the modern audience.

Just look at the early reviews, Unreal stutter and crash fest.
Why would I pay 50+ bucks for that when I bought the GOTY for <3 bucks.

Not really a remake but a remaster not enough was done for a full remake it feels like the original with a new coat of varnish on top. I don’t have a problem with it

The character models look awful the og they looked bad but I think it looks more uncanny now. The world it’s self looks great tho so far over all 9/10 for this I’m happy with it over all and steam deck decent performance

My thoughts are on how avowed began suffering waves and hoards of trolls, and with the coinciding sudden release of oblivion remake it looks very suspiciously like avowed's trolls are either paid by bethesda or are bethesda fans themselves sabotaging obsidian's new masterpiece to prevent it from killing skyrim.

It’s not a remake it’s a remaster please stop calling it a remake

That sounds pretty cool, actually. I'll check it out.

Not sure if you are referring to me but it’s very well done imo and I’m excited to replay oblivion now. I’m happy it’s not a remake

You mean Textures?!?

4k Textures will take up a lot more space than Models..
Looks like you need to be reading up on things.

Not to mention it's technically 2 game engines who knows how many assets are doubled up..
(can you swap between old and new graphics?)

and the usual modern day engine bloat and non compressed assets.

No, I don't mean "textures". I mean "polygons". If you don't understand the difference, please educate yourself from professional sources.

The disparity in disk usage between vertex representations and huge bitmaps notwithstanding, it is risible that there's no discounted upgrade path from this version to the remaster.
