Oblivion already is no attributes. There's no visible difference in damage from the lowest possible strength to the highest possible strength. The only attribute that does anything impactful is endurance and intelligence for casters only, and the perks in Skyrim do the same but without having to min max or worry about modifiers to increase them.
Yeah it's less realistic but the way strength was implemented in oblivion made it completely useless. You could remove the attributes from oblivion completely and the game would play the same. Every other system in oblivion was game -ey and not trying to replicate real life, that's why the world revolves around you and every dungeon is imps at level 1. Even the new vampire system makes no sense from a realism view, it's built entirely as a game mechanic and works backwards to how it should (Skyrim's is the same so I'm not praising it there either).
Skyrim while also game-ey allows you to build vastly different characters even if their skills are the same using the perk system.
All of what the attributes do in oblivion (except movement speed) are able to be upgraded and manipulated through the perks.
Sure many of the perks do very little and simply mimic what an attribute would do (like the boost damage perks) but honestly it's better than whatever oblivion gave us, and I'd prefer the slight boost to damage perks over extremely impactful instant gratification perks anyway. Skyrim managed to still have a slow progression with their perk system.
The perk system of Skyrim could definitely be better implemented and planned out, but it's still better than oblivions no attributes do anything approach.
A remaster I’m down for a full complete third party remake like the demon souls remake I do not want
The problem is the remake is in UE5 not Bethesda’s Creation Engine and UE5 may be modable but nowhere near as modable as the Creation Engine. And the leaks for the remake don’t even look half as good as the Rudy CW ENB presets. Skyblivion, on the other hand, is a conversion mod for Skyrim (like Enderal), so Skyrim mods should mostly be compatible and those that aren’t can easily be modified to work properly.
That’s just on the modding side. The gameplay itself is being changed to lean more towards a souls like game and I highly doubt Bethesda will go through the trouble to try to give every item its own object permanence which is something that use to define Bethesda games.
Overall, it just isn’t going to be the same game. The combat will be different and there will be a major lack of mod support comparatively. Even without the mod support, they are changing the actual combat system and gameplay making it a very different game, even if the story is the same.
Honestly, Bethesda’s Creation Engine is one of the greatest engines created for open world RPGs. The way each item and NPC has its own permanence and physics is what made Bethesda games so unique. I’m sure they could replicate it to some extent in UE5 but not well. They should have just stuck with Creation Engine and added support for ENB. The graphics alone would have turned out twice as good as what the leaks show.
If it's called REMASTERED, I wonder if I can play it in UE5. If not, then in the Cloud.
The game needs a remake, a remastered version, and I have many opinions on it, including my review and complete walkthrough, three years ago.
Because of "Skyblivion," many people have also sensibly expressed the need for a remake, a remastered version.
First of all, it has to be at least as good as Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2018, in terms of water, meadows, and forests.
I'm happy about a Chinese cookie cutter. I'm currently playing and immersed in the Chinese game "Stormshot 2023." So, Chinese people know cookie cutters.
I'd like to see und feel "Cyrodiil" MORE as a metaphorically told history of the wiki/Byzantine_Empire, So as Turkish history before Islam. And the Venice Italians, metaphorically as the "Deadra"...
Bethesda releases Morrowind on Consoles and becomes a Consoles first company but declares to us and states it's always gonna be a PC first Developer because that's where it first started and is comfortable. Money rolls in on the Console express; Hallelujah! The console is King now.
Todd has stated in the past how well Skyrim has sold on Consoles and especially on the Switch.
When asked in an interview around Starfield release Todd stated that he "gets asked" for an Oblivion Remaster and Fallout 3 Remaster a lot. This is what you call a hint my humans. Personally, I'd rather see a Morrowind or Daggerfall "Modernized" edition. Oh, well.
Rumors of an imminent Oblivion Remaster announcement to drop around the Time of Switch 2 reveal.
Switch 2 Reveal and every game made in the last 5 years that sold well is getting a port to it in glorious modern 4k or at least 1080p along with the announced first party titles.
Eagerly awaiting the stand alone Switch 2 game announcements. Xenoblade X2 please, Not gonna stand in line for Janky Kong. Monolith soft surly will announce something very soon in trailer form, yes? Maybe a new Fire Emblem, too? *Poke, poke"?
Hold on. Rumors that Oblivion gets announced real soon™. Probably coincides with Switch 2 methinks. Hype-Boner extends.
Tariff Nonsense.
Nintendo cancels the windup. Rethinks money. Nintendo breaks out the calculators.
Flagship and big announcements put on hold until Nintendo refines the plan.
Goes to hospital for a shunt for my priapism.
I used to drive up to Canada for cheap smokes and Alcohol during the prohibition.
Gonna do it for food, medicine, and games now.
Oblivion announce soon???
The mistake you made is thinking anyone cares about Canada
It's still mostly accurate comment. It's not a remake, it's a remaster that runs on gamebryo and only uses unreal for graphics rendering. It doesn't have souls like combat or anything else like that.
