The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

Am I the only person who actually enjopyed Oblivion's level scaling?
I felt like it allowed me to explore and look where I wanted, without the constant worry of being slaughtered by an overpowered enemy. Granted, I still feel like it could've been implemented better, but I think it made Oblivion into the most enjoyable TES for me. It's all immersive fun.
Hell, that's just my opinion, though.

I liked the level scaling. It made the game challenging. Players in Skyrim have to use mods to increase the difficulty because the game is too easy without the level scaling.

However the level scaling would have been better if all the bandits didn't get Glass armor and weapons and Marauders didn't get Daedric armor and weapons.

Those armors should have only been available to the ringleader bosses and select NPC's.

It simply had some bad sides to it. People didn't wanna worry about if they leveled their hero properly or not.

i don't really mind it. it gets a bit ridiculous like #1 said when all the bandits have glass armor and all the marauders have daedric armor but it doesn't really impact my game that much, and i can just mod out certain egregious parts of the level scaling like that if i want to

are you high? everything in skyrim scales to your level. the reason its so easy is because its impossible to ever miss an attack, but you can circle strafe any enemy to death.

Enemies only scale to your level up to a certain point. After that they don't. I guess I should have worded it more clearly.

In Skyrim, most enemies have a low level cap. Bandits only go up to level 25 or so. The highest level Forsworn, not including Briarhearts go up to 34. Typical Draugr below Deathlords cap at 26.

That is why once you level up into your 30's the game becomes too easy and you need a mod like High Level Enemies and others to keep the game challenging.

In Oblivion all enemies are usually equal or a few levels below you at all times.

incorrect. dungeons only scale to a certain point. random enemies in the world scale 100% of the way. you need mods because a: you never bothered turning up the difficulty, and b: enemies cant really stand up to you once youve got all these perks doing massive more damage, taking much less damage, etc.

I agree very fun game did not have to worry about op npc's at lvl ` 1 not only that game play was more enjoyable. its sad they took away the jump attacks and the back flips along with under water fighting also the ablity to cast while blocking and swinging sword or weapon;.... not to menton faster attacks ummmmm....... well lets put it this way, in looks skyrim is great..... in game play im sort of not all that pleased...... Skyrim adds a horse attack and deep graphic but takes away too much of the game play.... :( good game just a downstep in what we used to can do......

No disrespect to the game but its visual pleasing to the eyes but to elderscroll players who loved this game for its game play... its a step down.. it feels like a MMO instead of elderscrolls giving the hard leveling system without any real reward beyond the tech tree in which the tech tree is limited to specific weapons instead of the individual ablities to make some one bleed and armor pentration should not be a weapon perk instead its should be a characer perk of their knowlege of weapons "this means they should be able to make opponents bleed and pentrate armor no matter the weapon.." The attribute system was taken so why not find something else to better supplment the skills and tech tree to make the character seem more unique. Giving the player options between style of fighting would be awsome using the old fight engine and combining it to skyrims would be nice also gives players more to explore in realm of character development, also legendary could have given a perk instead of a clean reset a reset is fine but give a special perk worth reseting skills.. maybe a rare spells in which they removed "reverse normal damage, reverse spell damage, etc look up oblivion spells too many was removed to put in post" or a new one like weapon legendary perk ignore 5 % - 10% armor each time legendary or for armor return 5% damage per legendary :( another aspect they took was experience fist fighters; adding an enchantment works i suppose.... but adding more perks for it would be nice like on Oblivion takes stamina 1% - 2% away each hit and in skyrim stamina is vital. but that aspect was ignored or i guess simplifed however they may call it. there are more issues i have with skyrim; but I think I have said enough about it.

Again no disrespect to skyrim and its developers on what they have done this just how I feel about skyrim compared to Oblivion dont mind the rant of coarse if you are a modder free ideas for mod .. lol..

I find the bandits in oblivion to be a little more challenging because there are no bandit types therefore they all are strong especially when they where in large groups.

Heres a tip in skyrim get your equipment to legendary you are a god. ONE HIT BANDITS EVERYWHERE xD even bandit chiefs will seem like weak bandits. My point you become too powerful. Dont even mention enchants the thrill of battle dies slowly with each enchantment you add. build up smithing enchanting and alchemy you cant be stopped for vanilla game unless God himself show up. to be more clear yes enemies do go beyond the lvls 26 - 34 in hard I swear some of the enemies are beyond lvl limits, but still with the right enchants and well made equipment they are still rather easy even for moded skyrim using vanilla equipment.
