renault not spawning?

i just bought GOTYD on my laptop. at first everything was ok until i got to the part where captain renault dies and you search his body and get a sword and a torch. that went okay but i could not find a key. after searching virtually everywhere, i was forced to load a previous save. however, the moment the scene where the assassins kill renault i couldn't find his body. neither could i find any of the other assassin's bodies. i loaded a previous save AGAIN, but this time two bodies were there and again renault was nowhere to be found. i then decided to close the game. has anyone else had this problem?

No I have never had that happen before.

Sometimes things can fall through the ground. You can use the console command TCL to go fishing for it if you want, but messing with console is not recommended. Your probably better off starting over and being more careful.

BTW Captain Renualt is female, and she carries two swords. She usually drops one of the floor and it can fall through the ground too.

I suggest you install the unofficial patches to help avoid problems in the vanilla game.
