Closing the gate to Oblivion
I understand that if you do not deliver the Amulet prior to Closing the Kvatch gate the other gates do not open until you have delivered the Amulet. I recall when I closed the Kvatch gate the first time I played this, many years ago, gates opened all over the map and I found this ruined my enjoyment of the game.

I was planning to not go to Kvatch but, I am now wondering about the possibility of closing the Kvatch gate but not delivering the amulet until I have done everything else I want to do in the game. I am sure others have tried this and I would appreciate any advice, please.

if you don't want all of them to be gone, theres also a mod that just reduces the amount

The game is called elder scrolls oblivion. If oblivion ruins your enjoyment of the game, maybe play one of the others instead

:) I finished Morrowind a very long time ago.

I did not say I did not want to complete this chapter, I said I wanted to delay completion and maintain the beautiful scenery as long as possible. I was interested to know if there were contraindications to doing this.

I would very much like to complete as many quests as possible. And, BTW, right now I am having a great deal of fun with my "Electric Bow" and "Bow of Entrapment". I suppose I could try to close all the gates early and as fast as possible, but, that did not work out so well last time I tried. I had too many diversions (quests) playing havoc with my butterfly concentration. :(

Skyrim has weather and Morrowind has sandstorms. :)

If you do not talk to Martin in after closing Kvatch's Gate without him, you will be fine.
I actually did that my 1st play through
I actually did "The Battle for Castle Kvatch" at that time still no Gates start open.
With that character i have done so many quest including SI and quest mods without witnessing ant other Oblivion Gates.
