Installing Unofficial Oblivion Patches
I've installed Steam's GOTY version, and downloaded the Unofficial Oblivion, Unofficial Shivering Isles, and Unofficial Official Mods Patches. How do I install the patches? They've come as .zip files and they don't contain .exe files, so I'm not sure how to proceed. Thank you for your advice!

The instructions that came with the files tell me to extract the files into my Bethesda Softworks/Oblivion folder. As I got the game via Steam, there is no such folder. And I obtained the files from the Dark Creations website - I am not spreading untrue information, I'm just reporting what I see.

Here you go. The exe installer for Unoffical Oblivion patch by Quarn and Kivan and Arthmoor: http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/5296/?

edit: dont forget to use BOSS (for load order) and OBSE (for stability and such).

Decompress the mods inside the "Data" folder of the game, and then activate the mods in "Data Files" from the launcher. Although I recommend using the program Oblivion Mod Manager to arrange properly the loading order (each official DLC followed by its unofficial patch mod and files).

If you plan to use mods that replace textures, you will need Oblivion Mod Manager anyway for its "Archive Invalidation" function that makes that obligatory process really fast and easy. Also, make sure you're using the latest versions of this tool and the mods:

Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch

this guy knows what he's talking about, you should follow his advice. Download oblivion mod manager, install and open it. Then download the patches that come in a .zip, press "Create", then "Add Archive" and choose each .zip and repeat for each. When this is done, activate the mod (in this case, the patch) you just added to OBMM by pressing its name and install it. When this is done click its name on the side of the window and move it up in the load order until it's directly below the official DLC it affects.
I hope I didn't make it too confusing, you can add me if you want and I'll try to help you out best I can:D:

Thank you! Especially to Azrael and the extra detail from DH. Found the right folder, orderly loaded everything using the OBMM, and so far, so good.

im noob.
so obmm can load .zip or 7z file and process it ? or do i must to use a .omod file with obmm?
also, is there a "auto sort load order" kind of function from OBMM ?

OBMM can handle .zip and 7z.
So kick OBMM and Push "Create"button.
Then "omod creater" dialog box will come up.
Click "Add archive" button and select folder and find "Unofficial Oblivion Patch-5296-3-5-3b.7z".
And there you go.

About OBMM, follow Tat-n good instruction :)

Use the program BOSS for auto sorting, its up to date with the current mods and it will put the mods in correct order. Some will suggest the new LOOT but it will NOT sort the mods correct for Oblivion (LOOT is more for Skyrim, New vegas and fallout 3).

And then, WHAT??? A 100$ question. I followed everything, but this achieves absolutely nothing. After you do all this the mod is still not installed. It is useless advice unless you can disclose what you do next (and all the other steps necessary). Thanks
