There is enchanted equipment you can obtain with Feather that makes everything in your inventory weigh less, while also increasing how much you can carry. There are also Feather spells you can use with high enough Alteration skill.
If you are far enough in the main quest, the best thing you can do is close some Oblivion gates to obtain sigil stones that you can use to enchant any armor with Feather. Just save your game before touching the sigil stone and reload the save until you get a sigil stone with Feather. The strength of the sigil stone enchantment depends on your level. At level 17 you can enchant armor with 125 feather.
When you reach certain levels in armor skill the weight of your armor is reduced. With 100 skill in Heavy armor and 75 in Light armor the pieces you have equipped are weightless.
do you leave your game running 24/7?
I have had over 500 hours in 2 weeks before.
If you leave a game minimized while playing another game all games count towards your 2 week total.
No need to reload the save to before the armor just store the armor somewhere.
You don't really need a House. There are 6 Grain Sacks in the Imperial City Market District. The Grain Sacks with the open tops only. There are 3 on each side near the shops.
Those 6 grain sacks are non respawning containers and are 100% safe for permanent storage. They provide plenty of storage for a long time so you don't really need a house right away.
You can find more of these grain sacks in some of the Guilds as well so you can store items in several cities without ever having to own a home.
My first priority is to save enough money for the Gauntlets of Gluttony that you can buy from the merchant in Bruma. They add 15 strength but lower your HP a little. 15 strength is very useful for increasing your damage and your carry limit. They are extremely durable too.
