Launcher not working error
So I've been getting this error that says that the launcher isn't working and that windows is looking for a solution, only to find none. I have both reinstalled and deleted the .ini folder in documents>my games> oblivion. I've also uninstalled both obse, obmm, and any other mods i had installed and that didn't work either. Is there anything else that I could try to get it working?

I did try launching from the game directly before, but it seems to work when setting the launcher in compatability mode, thanks

Well, now apparently the steam overlay isn't working and im not sure if its because of running it as an admin or something else.

Just tried that, it's still not working sadly

I am having the same problem. I assumed it was due to updating to Windows 10. However, all my other games work fine. It's just Oblivion.

I don't exactly want to blame Windows 10 for it but that might actually be the problem. The whole Dawn of War series won't work for me either for some reason, I hit play and nothing even happens.

after sevreal hours of searching i was now abel to fix my problem, for some reason the game is unable to launch if you are running double screens, the same problem occurs with double mouses and so on, i hope that helps

I guess nobody has figured out how to fix this just yet? I tried on my other pc that runs Windows 7 and same problem so it's something to do with the game. I have tried running through steam, through administrator mode in the .exe. I have tried deleting and getting a new .ini file. Nothing seems to work though.

Okay, to anyone who cannot get this to work. I have figured it out. You have to go into the files and go to the Oblivion.exe and Oblivion Launcher.exe, right click and go to properties and then to compatability. Set it on Windows XP service pack 3 on both the .exe's just to make sure. Then set to always run the game in administrative mode. It should work then.

okay so ive tried everything here but i still cant get it to run. i tried compatability mode and running as an administrator, but even then it still wont open. the launcher will open just fine, but the actual game closes out before i can even see anything. quite frustrating

When you delete it, if you instantly reinstall the game you're essentially hitting undo.

Because of how memory works, both SSD and HDD, you have to re-write the data a bit to get a clean install. You can just download a mod or two, or defrag after uninstalling. I uninstalled Oblivion, and the immediately reinstalled FO:NV before reinstalling Oblivion and everything works fine.

As for what caused it in the first place, it's most likely a mod-based issue. Some mods may create a conflict in the settings, or it may be purely random. Who knows.
