The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

FCOM vs. Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul
I've been a long time user of FCOM. I love everything about it, and I don't even find it a chore to install. However, due to the sheer number of major overhauls involved it can come with compatibility problems. Maskar's Oblivion Overhaul seems like a all in one contender to be a solid replacement for FCOM. However I'm curious how it stacks against FCOM.

MOO definitely looks interesting and I am currently downloading it but since I believe it will conflict or at least have some weird results with a mod I am making myself I do not want to install it yet.
It has been around for a couple years and Has continued to be updated by the author and the author seems to be fairly quick on responses.
Once I am done testing my own mod I will probably give MOO a go.

Personally it appears to have many features that FCOM does but as you pointed out it comes in 1 file. you can then change some settings through installation or through the ini. file.

You have used FCOM before so you would be a perfect person to try it out as I have only used OOO, frans, and MMM by themselves and never part of FCOM. plus it may be time to change up the game for yourself.

You can chance pretty much every aspect of MOO though the ini file. And you can plugin your own compatibility settings like 'if mod A is loaded disable/enable feature B. Set parameter C to N'.

MOO is plain brilliant.

have you used fcom or one its mods: OOO, MMM, Frans.
and can you make a comparison?

NOt a long one I just want some incentive before I spend hours trying to figure out what is and isn't compatible involving the mods I do love and tend to always use.

I use MOO together with OOO. Works flawlessly. I see no reason why it would clash with full fleged FCOM. MOO is very lightweight: no leveled lists, alot of things are dynamic and are added/changed on the fly. Make sure to load MOO last, after the bashed patch, otherwise things get really weird.

Comparision wise, obviously subjective: I meanwhile prefer vanilla MOO over OOO. MOO stays challenging over the whole game, while OOO tends to drown the PC in OP gear. So no LoD, no gown of power, no kelum mer dwemer etc. The boss fights are fun, but after some point, I always feel like a demigod walking Mundus.

Interesting. So would you say MOO balances out a bit of the demigod issue of OOO? I didn't think them compatible. FCOM I never felt too strong, but there are so many other mods at play to balance OOO out that I've never actually played vanilla OOO.

No, hence vanilla atm for me

I didn't think them compatible.

They are. Resp., what I can say: I played a char to lvl32 (vanilla OOO + MOO), got bored due to demigod syndrome, but didn't encounter any issues.

My last FCOM installation was ~2009, so take it with a grain of salt, but from what I remember: MOO does alot to the enemy AI, tried and trusted 'tactics' like pulling dont work anymore (In Nornalhort, the moment I engaged the first vampire the whole friggin zone charged me). So FCOM + MOO might be too much.

Thanks for the info! I think I'll try doing an installation of both for comparison purposes. :)
