The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

Can't enter the area near Weynon priory
Whenever I try to go to Weynon Priory with Martin after Kvatch the game crashes. It crashes whether I fast travel, or if I enter from a nearby cell. Something must be very broken in there, but any idea how can I fix it or get around it?
Edit: I've found that I can't travel to any outdoor location, not just Weynon. I can go inside cities though. Strange.

Hopefully i am telling you things you have tried. shutdown pc and restart, try again.

If it is a no go then reload a save right before picking up Martin and test your traveling to thes areas. if it is stil a no go then continue trying saves that you do have.

Tell me you have several saves to fall back on. I have played 12 hours and have saved over 100 times. keeping the last ten and usually the one that is closest to each hour played. save often.

there are some beauty mods that affect outdoor locations but not cities and vice versa. one of these may be glitching now.

try coc to one of these locations and then enter exit building and area and come back to see if it continues to crash. if you are able to use coc into an area save so further testing might be done.

coc WeynonPrioryHouse
coc WeynonPrioryLodge

A common cause for this crash is having bDoSpecularPass in Oblivion.ini set to 0. If that's the case, set it to 1 and back to 0 after you're past the problem area, if you so wish.

Probably late to the party. Verify integrity of game cache?

are you using mods? bc if you are you need to unload them. the same thing happened to me at the arcane univesity

I found the cause: the Kvatch Rebuilt mod. The problem goes away if the mod is deactivated. The strange thing is that I have had that for a long time without trouble. Oh well, I can live without it.

that is nice to know. thanks for telling us. I have it sitting there and was going to install at some point after finishing that part of the main quest. I may just stay away from it for good. thanks.

Were you using Kvatch Rebuilt with Oblivion Character Overhaul V2?

I am not sure if that is the problem, but accoring to a relatively new mod, Compatibility Patches for nuska's Oblivion Character Overhaul (v2) http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/46249/? there are compatability problems with those two mods.

I am not sure if that mod will fix your particular issue, but it may be worth a try.

I don't have OCO. I recently installed Dark UI however, but this does nothing to characters I think. Maybe it has an incompatibilty nonetheless?

You made an error somewhere, the game processed something in a different way... You crash every time you visit, so you could try visiting Weynon Priory again after the cells respawn or after a while. That's what I did when those things happened to me. It's an old game and it's just buggy. There's no way around it.

I installed a newer version of KR (mine was a bit outdated) and the problem went away. Not in the same savegame though, I replayed almost from start.

You update KR 2.5 -> 3.0 ?
Charlemagne Jul 8, 2015 @ 7:57pm
I think it was more like KR 2.12 to 3.something.
