Possible Speechcraft malfunction or bug?

Whenever the message appears telling me I've achieved Journeyman level at Speechcraft, I also get a DISPOSITION MAXED message at the same time, no matter what the NPC's disposition is, and I'm forced to click DONE.

However, I can then immediately resume Speechcraft with that NPC, and then will later get a second DISPOSITION MAXED message after increasing disposition.

Usually once I've maxed disposition once, I cannot resume Speechcraft at all, so this is obviously a bug of some kind, right?

Has anyone had crashes or problems from this? Speechcraft seems very buggy, from what I've experienced so far.

It always worked fine for me as far as I know. However, it's relatively weak in having impact on your gameplay unless you're not really good on gold. Try installing the Unofficial Oblivion patch. You could also try verfying the game cache integrity.
