Oblivion not displaying properly
I purchased the game a few hours ago. The game runs perfectly through the main menu and opening cutscene with the Emperor, but when I get to create my character and actually start walking around the dungeon, the screen is completely black and green. I have a few screenshots on my profile for reference. I was given a link from a friend to a Nexus mod file, which is said to help with this problem. I ran the file through Oblivion Mod Manager numerous times, with no luck. If anyone else has come across this problem and was able to fix it, some help would be much appreciated.

Your profile is private.

Have you installed any mods? Are there any files in \Oblivion\Data\Shaders ? You may also try disabling HDR in settings.

My bad. I can unlock it. But no, I didn't try that. Im honestly not great with computers, so excuse any seemingly dumb questions.

To answer your question, yes, there are a ton of files in the Shaders folder. What should I do with them? (Again, not great w/ computers, so I may seem dumb.)

Problem like your occurs when that folder actually is empty. There must be 19 shader files, if you're missing any, you should verify your game cache.

Some people say this also can be caused by some bugs with newer graphic cards and HDR + AA (Anti Aliasing). Either turning HDR or AA off, or setting HDR to Bloom should fix the issue.

I was able to fix it. My problem was the HDR lighting, I just had to turn it off. Thanks for helping out a PC noob

This game was released 14 years ago. Expecting bethesda to make updates to thes older games is like expecting microsoft to update xp.
