Trying to save a Mod?
So, I have an interesting complication. I got Oblivion with its construction set a week ago, and finally got around to actually using it. I settled upon making a custom race mod as my first foray into modding, since all of the assets to make one were there and it seemed simple enough.

There were really no issues, until the time came that I finished my mod and save it into the data folder of the game. What happened is that the construction kit crashes and what comes out is a "tes" file for the mod as opposed to esp or bsa as mods for the game should be. What this means is that the game doesn't recognize the mod, and therefore I cannot enable it.

For those who have done modding before, have you run into this issue before? What's causing it, and can I fix it?

I think you can rename the .tes to .esp and re-open it, then save. CS is prone to crashing, especially with large mods. Using the 4GB patch can help. I mod mainly for Skyrim but I'm familiar enough with CS.

You may also consider using this mod as it fixes bugs and enhancements. Construction Set Extender[www.nexusmods.com]
