The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

Oblivion Deluxe Discrimination?
I own the Oblivion GOTY Edition Probably from The Elder Scrolls Anthology, anyways I see there is a Sale for Oblivion GOTY Deluxe with some extra DLC content that isn't registered as DLC but packaged with the Deluxe version. It will not let me buy the Deluxe version because I already own Oblivion GOTY... So do I already have the Extra Content? Or am I unable to obtain the Content because I am a senior Supporter/Purchaser?

Perhaps you can eventually buy the extra DLC or they could expand your existing purchase to include whatever that DLC happens to be. Until then ask in the Oblivion forums, chatroom, etc.

There are 2 versions of Oblivion on Steam, GOTY and Deluxe.
GOTY is base game + KoTN + Shivering isles.
Deluxe is base game + KoTN + Shivering isles + the 8 small dlc.

There's no way to upgrade GOTY to Deluxe, blame Bethesda. It's not Valve's game so they can't touch it.*

Honestly, i wouldn't bother. The 8 dlc consist of:
- 3 are just player houses with their "quest" being buying "upgrades" (furniture).
- Fighter's Stronghold has an actual quest, but then you're back to buying furniture.
- Horse armor is, well, 2 sets of horse armor. Lame.
- Spell tomes is meh. There are mods that do the same.
- Orrery is a single quest that can be completed in 5 mins top.
-Mehrunes' Razor is a lenghty dungeon with a good weapon at the end, only good one IMHO

*There's a way but it involves deleting GOTY from your account, and then buying Deluxe. (don't worry, doesn't actually delete it. It's more like an advanced hide)

to delete a game:
Click Help/Steam Support
search for Oblivion, click on it
Select the option "I want to permanently remove this game from my account" and then
"Ok, remove the listed game from my account permanently"
If you bought Oblivion as part of a bundle you will be required to delete the entire bundle, but you can restore it after buying Deluxe.

Now that should allow you to buy Deluxe edition. I've read somewhere that It may take up to 30 minutes for Steam to recognize that the game is no longer in your account, idk if it's true.

to restore a game:
click Help/Steam Support
search for Oblivion, click on it
Select the option "It's not on my library" and then "restore the previous removed package to my account".
If you bought Oblivion as part of a bundle then that will restore the entire bundle.

As @Lazy Dog has pointed out and I totally agree the Deluxe version is not worth it for the DLC's that come with it.
Get yourself a few mods.

it absolutely is worth getting over the GOTY version. all of the DLC it adds are of much higher quality (in that it wont crash your game due to sloppy editing) than any mod youll ever find that do the same or similar things. and its currently 6$, well worth it.

Did the Suggested method above and now it has the Deluxe as a Purchase I can remove Separate from the Anthology edition. Although I don't have a 'Deluxe' version in my Library...
I also didn't have to wait at all for it to see I had Removed Oblivion GOTY.. :D
These are the .esp I have, so I guess if you don't have them with GOTY basic and want Deluxe ^this^ is how to get them.. Thank you all!

There is one more important difference.
Delux is English only.
GOTY is DE, ES, IT, SP, EN.
Thus, if you want to get a German voiceover, for example, you should buy GOTY version instead Delux.
