This should help. Get a leveling mod (realistic leveling for a more vanilla experience and oblivion XP for a more traditional RPG), a combat mod (deadly reflex or unecessary violence), a magic mod (Supreme magicka, LAME, Middas) and an overhaul if you want (Oscuro and Maskar's Overhaul work great together). If you're into roleplaying/immersion, basic primary needs and basic physical activities are cool.
If you want better graphics take oblivion reloaded
Like Vilja or Arren
And colorful creatures i recommend "Creature Diversity".
1)Player hunter fame and infamy :Morag Tong will start to attack you
2)Lynges Dark Brotherhood Assassins : They are waiting many place
Oblivion mod Manger
Wyre Bash ( Necesarry for a heavily modded game)
OBSE ( Most mods use it)
Blockhead
Menuque
Mandatory Patches/Bug Fixes:
Unnoficial Oblivion Patch
Unnoficial Shivering Isles Patch
Unnoficial DLC Patch
Magick's Game Fixes
Beautify
Quarl's texture Pack
Unique Landscapes
Better Cities ( I wouldn't use it since it makes my game unstable and drains FPS, but if you can make it work it's great)
Oblivion Grass Overhaul
Improved SIgns
Improved Fruits and vegetables
Better Oblviion textures
Improves Trees
Oblviion Reloaded
Statues HD
Better Enhanment effects
Better Magic Effects
All Natural ( Makes weather better)
Animated Windows and Chimneys
Robert's Male Body Replacer
HGEC, Robert's Female Body,
Oblivion Chafracter Overhaul ( Honestly could never play the game without it. Blockhead is a must for it though)
Better Oblivion Blood
Game Overhauls
Oscuro Oblivion Overhaul ( Makes the game harder, more reqwarding, and adds a ♥♥♥♥ load of enemies)
Martigen's Monster Mod ( THE monster mod. Make your install as basic as possible though, as it can increase CTDs if using multiple mods
Maska'r Oblivion overhaul ( The most compatible overhaul that is still being work on to this day.)
Deadly Reflex 5 ( Adds Kill moves, Dodges, and makes NPCs smarter. 6 is a buggy mess, so only use it)
Supreme Magicka ( Overhauls the magic)
Oblvion XP ( Makes leveling in Oblivion more traditional, so you get xp from leveling, completing quest, etc.)
Waalx animals and Creatures ( Adds a ♥♥♥♥ load of armors, monsters, and animals to the world that look way better than any other Overhaul. Still requires a bit of effort to get it working
Immersive Weapons (Adds a ♥♥♥♥ load of weapons from mods. Most of them are WAAAY better than vannila.
jh
Quest Mods-
Tears of the Fiend
Dungeons of Ivellon
Kranegir's Death Quest
The Lost Spires
Enhancements
Companion Vilja ( Adds a companion that talks with you, about events in the world, quests, etc.
Cobl ( Kinda hard to explain what it does. But adds books, foods, a hunger system, etc.)
A Bloody Mess ( During combat you get covered in blood)
Get Wet ( Droplets fall whenever it rains)
They do not require OBSE (very improtant for Mod beginners)
Just drop esp file and Bsa file into Data folder.
I choose them because you must find TES4 is fun with less efforts.
After you feel like to play more, try more mods with your taste.
Do you have all of these mods (except for Better Cities) active all together? Are there any conflicts? Could you also post links for some of the ones that aren't on the Nexus? Thanks in advance.
Oblivion Mod Manager + Unofficial Oblivion Patch + Unofficial Shivering Isles Patch + Unofficial Oblivion DLC Patches + Oblivion Script Extender + FOV Modifier + Fast Exit + Oblivion Stutter Remover + DarNified UI + Enhanced Hotkeys + MenuQue + A To Take All [BOSS Master List Manager + Realistic Leveling + Quickstart + Oblivion Character Overhaul version 2 + Mystic Emporium Patch + Torch Hotkey T Key + Auto Update Leveled Items And Spells] + Toggleable Quantity Prompt
Also you can skip Realistic Leveling, Oblivion Character Overhaul version 2 and Auto Update Leveled Items And Spells (this mods change game or character faces)
Mystic Emporium Patch did not worked for me and the same with Toggleable Quantity Prompt.
Sadly without Toggle able Quantity Prompt the game is hardly playable mess. Unless you don't mind clicking hundreds of times (or not use alchemy). Funny thing that I read this functionality is on console. I guess Betheshda does not care. After all they have modders who will do that for free... Same with small Field of view or tiny map and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ interface overall. Too bad if some mods will not work, but like I sad they have free work labor and customers who don't care.
Skyrim might have ruined it for you. It's always hard to go back to a game with dated graphics from one that is a little higher.
Also, the bow in Skyrim is ten times better than Oblivion. Just the feel of letting loose an arrow is ten times better tha Oblivion.
Some of the best mods that adjust most of the game to make it more likeable- because I do know what youi mean, definitely
