Cant run obse

I can't seem to run obse at all. Oblivion.exe runs fine without obse but as soon as I try to launch the obse launcer.exe, it says "it looks like you are using the steam version of the game. Run the game through steam, not obse.exe".

So, with this, does this mean just do what it says? How do you check to see if obse is working with your game? I also had a problem where I upgraded to windows 10 and oblivion stopped running completely . I downgraded (and did a system restore due to other buggy problems on my computer as well) and I just finished reinstalling oblivion but im sorta wary about putting obse in there again or it might give me bugs and loading errors like last time.

Please, I really need your help! There's a lot of awesome mods out there that I want to use but can't because of the requirements (a lot of em use obse).

Anyone that helps, thank you so much! I'd be so cool if I had a techie friend or something that knows more about this stuff than I do.

Please respond, it's urgent, I just finished downloading the game and wanna learn how to properly mod it AND run obse even if it requires steam.

Once again my question is if you have the steam version and obse won't run because of it, will the game including any mods that need it still detect obse?

Well, run the game though steam, not obse.exe :D

Either click the 'play' button in you library or right click and create a shortcut. And enable steam overlay, obse needs it.

Obse is not workin on my DVD GOTY Oblivion, it says that I have the wrong Oblivion patch installed.

I have the latest unofficial patches installed for:

Oblivion

Knights of the Nine

Shiverin Isles

[Classified: TS/BBR]

You shouldn't need OBSE for the Unofficial Patches.

But I don't think you should really be having difficulties running OBSE either, did you get it from obse.silverlock.org? & the loader?

'cos I just checked & the site says it's compatible with pretty much just the Steam version of Oblivion, which implies they think it is compatible with the steam version of oblivion...

I'm not playin on my Steam Oblivion GOTY Deluxe right now, I'm playin on my DVD Oblivion GOTY.

Yes I got Obse/loader from obse.silverlock.org.

Some mods needs Obse to work.

OBSE requires patched Oblivion 1.2.0.416
This is about OFFICIAL PATCH version not UOP.

Steam version oblivion is 1.2.0.416 already.
But DVD version sometimes needs to be patched
Goto http://patches.bethsoft.com/ and look for Oblivion 1.2.0416 patch for your Oblivion.
