Both games are great, but I like Oblivion more than Skyrim.
lots more mods doesnt crash at all (if you use boss and skse)
I've seen so many of these threads pop up I automatically thought this was another person trying to ask which one to get again.
Anyways against one or the other I'd go with Oblivion since there's more stuff to do and it actually acts like an RPG.
Skyrim's fine but it's pretty much just straight up action with some half-assed RPG stuff sprinkled in until you mod the ♥♥♥♥ out of it.
They took out so much of the game with it and you can only put so much of it back through mods.
(Also, you can't make peace in Skyrim, you can merely call a truce while you sort out the dragons. Of course, once you've dealt with Alduin, the game doesn't seem to bother reinstating the war, but then it's not like much happens until you get involved - because that's totally how wars work...)
This was a very confusing and uninformed wall of text.
Oblivion, if anything, is as close to morrowind than any other TES game once you factor in the RPG elements, combat, graphics engine, etc...
If you're going to whine about magic, you might want to notice how you can wield weapons and still cast spells, like the poster above mentioned. Sure, you can't equip two kinds of spells like you can in Skyrim, but there is a myriad of spells contained in Oblivion, a plethora unrivaled by Skyrim.
Of course, I can't argue over preferred storylines, that's all subjective and opinionated. However, I must say that the depth of the lore and writing contained in Oblivion certainly gives Skyrim a bit of a bad name. I feel much more immersed in the affairs of Oblivion and much more interested in them than I ever did running around in Skyrim.
While I must sound like an Oblivion fanboy, it should be known I had my start in the TES series with Skyrim, where I fell in love with TES. From there, I've worked myself backwards all the way back to Arena. I just happen to think Oblivion is my overall favorite, though I love them all.
