The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Game of the Year Edition (2009)

oblivion or skyrim which is better?
which is better oblivion or skyrim, my favorite game of all time is oblivion, i have done every quest in both games and i really do prefere oblivion still, skyrim is boring and not pc friendly without mods, oblivion is the perfect game the story line is interesting and thought out, the mages guild you do stuff like mages would do, the theives guild you do stuff a theif would do, in skyrim the quest are boring and all the quest are so easy anyone could do them, i hacked and slashed my way throught the theives guild the first time, it sucked. they also took out a lot of the rpg aspects in skyrim, i cant decorate my house like i could in oblivion for example. so what do you guys think skyrim or oblivion

and for the love of god hearth fire was the saddest excuse of a dlc i have ever seen, sure you could bui;d your own house but that is not what any fan wanted, i think they should have done seperate house dlc for each role players took like they did with oblivion, oh wait in skyrim you get every role. that wouldnt have worked with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ game like skyrim huh?

There wasn't nearly as much freedom as there was in Morrowind. In Morrowind you could make a sword that when you hit someone with it it made you invisible and levitate but you also took 10 pts of fire damage or something, you could KILL A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GOD who was ESSENTIAL for the main quest then use your initiative to complete it another way (as well as a potentially huge sacrifice). Nothing in Oblivion gives you that much freedom - Oblivion is when the series went downhill because it's when they started trying to appeal to a largely console audience so they began stripping features left right and centre.

How did they ruin dragging and dropping? Are you talking about the physics engine? It's 1000 times BETTER in Skyrim - you can actually place things in display cases without it glitching out completely. There were special mechanics JUST for mannequins and bookshelves and sword + shield displays etc. etc. You COULD see your treasures but you couldn't in Oblivion.

And if you are arguing in favour of Oblivion don't bring up dissapointing DLC (horse armour XD). What is the point of paying for Battlehorn Castle when there are mods out there that have WAY better castles, forts, palaces etc. to live in? And I don't usually bother with Hearthfire but the big feature in that was that you got to build your own house rather than "go kill these bandits, OK the castle's yours."
dude i wasnt talking to you, in fact im tired of arguing with idiots like i said before, and one last thing have you ever tried to place an item in your house, it sucks theres only one vertice to grab it from and its on the floor the next time you go into your house, and thats assuming that you can even get it where you want it, drag and drop sucks ass in skyrim, that has nothing to do with the physics engine.

You can't get it where you want the first time in Oblivion, books just refuse to go into bookshelves.

This is an open forum, I caan speak to who I wish. What is the point in this discussion if you are going to efuse to speak to anyone with an opinion you don't like?

And you're saying that they should have MORE pointless microtransactions? what if people roleplayed multiple characters?

theres nothing at all wrong with horse armor dlc, and nothing wrong with battlehorn castle, your telling me you like hearthfire, that sad excuse for what they did better in oblivion, they actually made a home for each player in oblivion

And charged for them individually, and you didn't get to build them yourself which a lot of people liked (I don't use Hearthfire but I see why people like it for what it is.)

Nothing wrong with horse armour? The entire gaming world appears to disagree. "Horse armour" has become a byword for ♥♥♥♥♥♥ overpriced DLC.

It's awesome that a game would make you spend 5 minutes on each individual book rather than provide a handy inventory mechanic? Nostalgia me thinks.

i got all the extra dlc for five dollars on steam how is 7 dlc for 5 bucks overpriced, and it doesnt take five minutes to get a book on a shelf it takes like five seconds, and books are not the extent of displaying items i can also decorate my house with any item my heart desires unlike in skyrim, theres no point to me to explore because any trophies i would usually take i end up leaving there because i know theyll just end up in a chest and ill never look at them again. i would rather have to take time to put books on a shelf than have it done automatically, if the price i have to pay is no drag and drop

For Oblivion, they are probably talking about the main story (In an open-world game the main story isn't what you should judge the entire game's story off of.) For Skyrim, well the entire story DOES suck, but they probabbly get past that due to Skyrim's large world where you can do anything you really want (truthfully I didn't play Skyrim's quests much, I just liked doing whatever, mainly because all of skyrim's quests were uninteresting, Which is another reason why Oblivion is better)

You couldn't just wander around having fun doing stuff in Oblivion without getting bored really quickly because the world isn't as interesting.

The guild quests were much better in Oblivion (they were more generic than Skyrim's guilds but the questlines are more polished. The first Dark Brotherhood quest was better in Skyrim though and it was interesting that you could choose to join them or destroy them. And Daedric quests were cool in Skyrim - Molag Bal's was good and Boethiah's had some nice elements to it - the quests felt more like you were doing the bidding of the Daedric Prince - they had that design and Aesthetic, rather than just "Hey, that statue over there told me to kill you so, bye." Sheogorath's quest was fun as well. The Markarth quest was also good.

I hate arguing with you because you never give reasons why you say what you say....

You can't? Wow, your dumb. Yes, you can. The world is very interesting, more interesting than Skyrim. Atleast all the NPC's you run into in Oblivion have the option for Dialouge. In skyrim some are just there to make a comment and nothing more. Also, through my experiences there are more interesting side quests from walking around randomly and finding things in Oblivion than in Skyrim. And how was it more boring than Skyrim. There is no difference in randomly exploring in eathir games. Oblivion actually has more ya know.

Daedric Quests were better? How? They all just involved killing someone or something. All of Oblivion's daedric quests were unique and fun. Oh. I know why you hate them. Is someone mad that they have to work to be a better level to unlock the powerful daedric artifacts? I really hope that isn't the reason why....

The guild quests weren't really Generic. They just were good. If you think good is generic than I suggest buying a dictionary. Skyrim's guild quests were all interesting and didn't make me feel like a thief, mage, assassin, etc. I just felt like a guy power attacking. Because THATS ALL YOU DO.

Oblivion's daedric quests were almost all just killing people - Azura, Mephala, Boethiah, Umbra etc. The only ones that I have any memory of at all are Molag Bal's and Sheogorath's - they were the fun ones.

Actually I'm more mad about the fact that these apparently legendary artifacts are completely useless 10 levels later.

And the Oblivion "dialogue options" that everyone has are no different from Skyrim except they are called "rumours and you have to go into a menu to hear them. They probably just tell you anyway.

Why don't you try playing a two-handed user and role-play a different type of charater. And yeah I was pissed when I learned that Skyrim didn't have Goldbrand.
