Video Settings aren't saving.
I can't seem to save the settings in Oblivion. I also seem to have no Oblivion.ini file. Only Oblivion_default.ini. It is saved in Program Files (x86) and I am using Windows 10.

You're looking in Documents/My Games/Oblivion for the .ini...? Merry Christmas!

I'm having the same issue, anyone know a fix?

Oblivion occasionally has a crash on exit problem that prevents game settings changes from being saved, because the game crashes when you exit the game.

Try using the mod Fast Exit. You also need OBSE to make the mod work.

Or you can open console and type: saveini , in any case that helped me :)

I've tried save.ini. And there is no Oblivion folder in My Games. I'll try the Fast Exit mod, and see if that helps.

Fast Exit didn't help. It is still not saving.

Do you have the Steam version of the game?--That is where it puts it in Win10...Documents/My Games/Oblivion ...the game creates the directory the first time it is run. If you haven't run the game yet, and you have no oblivion folder where it should be, then you aren't running the game from the correct shortcut. Go into your Steam Library and have the Library save a shortcut for you to your desktop--then run the game from there, In Windows 10 I found that setting any kind of compatibility mode or selecting for run as admin will instantly cause the game to crash--so you want to make sure than no compatibility modes are set in the shortcut and that they are all blank--and use the Steamworks shortcut. Game runs fine for me in WIn10--only crashing when I exit the game--which is a fine place to crash if it has to crash at all!

Good luck. ..

I have run the game multiple times and there is no folder in there. I ran it from a desktop shortcut and that didn't help. I have also reinstalled it, and that didn't help either.

Go to the folder where Oblivion is installed, find a file called Oblivion_default or something like that. Make a backup of that file and then you open the original file and change which settings you want in there and save it, after you launch the game it shouldn't be necessary for you to change the settings every time you launch the game. If the INI file in Documents/My Games/Oblivion has the settings that you want, you could simply rename that one to Oblivion_default and replace the one in your game folder.
Let me know if this works. Feel free to ask me if you still find this confusing.

None of this is working. There is no folder in /Documents/My Games/ and there is no Oblivion.Ini anywhere when I searched the computer. There is only the one folder in C:/Games/Steam/common/SteamApps/Oblivion and there is no other folder. I have tried everything. Please help.

When in game set your settings, go in to your save and start playing, open console with tilde key (~) and type: saveini and press enter, That works perfectly and it's easy.

Nope, that doesn't work either.

C:/Games/Steam/common/SteamApps/Oblivion This is where I wanted you to go. There's a file called Oblivion_default , you need to make a backup of that file. After you do that, you need to open the file and alter the settings for the game in it and save it, then you should check if it works or not.

No, there's no way for this not to work. What settings did you change in the file?
