can you run it?

Do not expect to add mods or at least some of the better ones. You may even want to look at mods that lower the res of certain textures like grass.

Do not expect miracles but even without additional tools the game does not use more than 2GB ram and even with tools the max useable is 3 GB. other factors are more important like sound and vid cards.

if you do risk it I suggest getting the deluxe edition for the DLCs.

thats what im planning to do, beside Im not expecting to max out tjhe game

just wondering if with a pentium dual core and an ati radeon h470 it could run at least on medium settings or I should just get Morrowing until I get my rig.

2 gigs of ram is enough to run this =) Hell i even ran skyrim off 2 gigs of ram before i got my new rig. You are on a laptop however, so im not exactly sure what your graphical capabilities are or processing capabilities.

Hello, i personally think it should be okay to run oblivion though definitley not maxed out. However, it is up i dont want you feeling all grim if it runs really bad! It's easy for me to say upgrade your Laptop but some of the newer laptops are pretty awesome these days even the cheaper ones at £350. Which can throw around skyrim and oblivion like its nothing.

Im actually planning to get myself a desktop rig with 6 cores and probably a GTX 970 but meanwhile I need something to spend time with XD

Been testing Oblivion before and well, it ran okay but I had some pretty awful lag outside zones so thats why Im being very careful, Im torn between this or Morrowind

I dont mind if the game "only runs" with medium graphics though.

Well in that case pick it up! Take the risk...get it whilst its in the sale. If it sucks ass you will have that lovely desktop to run it on with lots of mods and goodies at a later date. I upgraded last month, best thing i've done in years. I just bit the bullet and did it!

If you're not afriad of modding, you can also try modding your Oblivion to improve performance on old computers. I haven't tried these methods (since I have a fast PC) but they might be helpful for you.

OLDBLIVION

Oldblivion is a piece of software originally created by asp which allows graphics cards which are pre DirectX9 to run Elder Scrolls: Oblivion from Bethesda. This means that Oblivion can run on cards such as Geforce 3, Geforce 4, Radeon 9200 and so on.

Read this for more info on Oldblivion (it has screenshots, too).
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Tes4Mod:Oldblivion

(Note, that UESP page no longer has a link to the actual Oldblivion download files so you'll have to Google for it. Seems like it's available on places like Fileplanet).

LOW-TEXTURE MODS
- I know with Skyrim, there were a lot of low-texture mods, so you can try googling for some for Oblivion. I found this one:

PIXELIVION:
http://www.nexusmods.com/oblivion/mods/19068/?

Pixelivion is an attempt to help those with lower end PCs gain a FPS improvement when playing
Oblivion. It does this by doing two things. First, nearly all the game textures have been
downsized by an amount to make them quite small, for example a textures that was 1024x1024
pixels is now 64x64 or lower. The second part of this is the inclusion of Bomret's DeNormal
Mapper, which removes all the normal maps from the game. This all means that the game can geta good FPS increase.

TL;DR version- Yes, you can play this game and RAM doesn't matter your Mobile graphics card matters the MOST, Followed by your CPU. But if you don't have enough RAM then no, you would have a hard time anyways. VERY Important, do NOT let your laptop overheat as you will see decreased performance in any game or application such as youtube due to thermal throttling.

Ram doesn't matter for playing oblivion, its more like how much its going to effect the game if you have facebook going in the background. RAM is more like your PC's strength if that makes any sense. Like how much weight or how big of a load it can carry at once. With 2GB of RAM I wouldn't recommend running anything else besides the game at once. What does matter, however, is your Mobile graphics card. You have the ATI 4500 which I know is good enough since on my HP 525 series it only had the 4200 series. Another thing is your processor is only 2.0 Ghz, its good enough, but turn down the render distance for pretty much everything. If you had a Intel dual core with hyperthreading, those are what you want to look for as far as mobile gaming. But, once you're on a desktop there are far better options. Hope this helps you understand if you can play this game, or others if you're looking to get some more in the future before you get your amazing desktop. I was in your place once haha. Now I can play anything 1080p Ultra at 60fps. Another thing, you can "technically" "play" "any" game, if you did it at like 800x600 resolution. I played Skyrim like that and got around 20fps. Not very pretty and still laggy because of the laq of RAM actually effects your API or "Mobile" graphics card Allot. So if you want more FPS boost try to get around 4-6GB of RAM and the fastest RAM you can put in your system. Happy Gaming on laptops haha.

Thank you very much for the extensive answer first, I usually temd to close everything else beside steam (maybe my AV and occasionally Advanced System Care runs in the background but thats about it)

I pretty much dediced to do away with laptop gaming and to stick to desktops only for my next pc anyway^^

Merry christmas to you and happy New Year from Hungary :)
