The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

Giving this game another shot; what mods are needed for purty piktures in 2024?
Also, what mods should I look into that improves any aspects of gameplay that are considered to be weak in the vanilla version?

DMC Stylish is nice, don't expect to use another movement animations that require esp's though unless you're some kind of scientist. I consider vanilla combat animations weak. Sink points martial arts is also great and has 1st person animations. LethalMajesty if you're playing a female character, xenius races, I could go on. I don't use any graphics mods since on a low end laptop.

I recommend just sorting to "most popular of all time" on nexus. There will be some graphical overhauls. Obscuro's Oblivion overhaul does a lot for the game. It gets rid of mobs leveling up with you. If you are level 5 you can run into level 10 mobs which makes it a lot more challenging, but it's a lot more rewarding. this mod also adds a ton of content. Install kvatch rebuilt, better cities, Midas Magic Spells of Aurum, Qarls Texture Pack III, Verona house bloodlines, Vampire Hunting - Order of the Virtuous Blood. This mod adds 25 quests to the vampire hunting faction which only had 1 or 2 quests in vanilla. These are just a couple but really awesome mods. Some of these mods also have player choice which adds replay ability.

Thanks I'll try this stuff out, and see how it goes.

To be honest, I'm just a casual fan of the Elder Scrolls series and, to me, Skyrim doesn't seem different enough to warrant a purchase.

I just want to try to recreate my stealthy Argonian character that I had on my 360 years ago, wander around the lands, and observe just how far Mod-creators were able take various aspects of this 18 year old game in order to improve it.

Kartoffel’s OUT suite gives the best visuals. Especially if you run 4k.

By whom? There is hardly any aspect of gameplay which isn't considered to be weak by someone. For example, do you consider the automatic mana regeneration (unless you choose Atronach as your birthsign) to be "weak"?
I'm aware that this is not about pictures, but I don't think visuals are any less problematic in this respect. I myself don't see how visuals could improve gameplay at all (they may make it more pleasant for you to watch the screen while you play, but this is not what I'd call "gameplay").
