PSU is good too, this is only game that does that and it just drives me crazy
Guess I have to dig deeper
uninstall current driver. use DDU.
reboot.
CLEAN install current driver.
reboot.
try game again.
usually if you are missing an old library, the game crashes with an error msg.
might check windows event viewer on the rare chance an event was logged before the power off.
if the Temps are fine then its not shutting down to protect itself that way, so if your using a monitor such as CPUID's HWmonitor, it should have the voltages as well. Keep an eye on those too.
been there before, with Skyrim rather than oblivion. it didnt power off, but did restart and at random intervals while on the game - the problem was the PSU, even though other games ran just fine.
My bet, PSU is failing. If you've got an old PSU lying about in a previous PC, check the 12V rail and see if it gives out around the same Watts, and try that.
Would atleast confirm, or rule out, the PSU as cause
if the difference between "expected" voltage and "delivered" voltage is greater than 10%, replace your PSU as soon as possible. (load some benchmark app and keep HWmonitor on top to monitor voltages while your PC is under load)
if the difference is smaller than 5%, plug your PC in a different wall socket and see if the problem persists (might have to do with PFC)
Now that i read all of that, I think it actually might be PSU and now I'm just afraid lmao
you will only know that for certain after you check it.
but with the information given that is all the advice we can give.
I'll try with PSU when i get a chance, so far I don't have any spare so I'll do it in near future :)
I was watching voltage when playing other games and everything was looking fine, although I was always afwul when it comes to electricity stuff
i've had a Corsair RM650x for over 7y, then bought a new PC and a new power supply (same model)
